Boyz back - minus
Ronan
January 21, 2002
BOYZONE are planning a sensational reunion tour WITHOUT frontman RONAN KEATING.
None of the lads, right – including Ronan – have done much since their last
show together a year ago so STEPHEN GATELY, KEITH DUFFY and MIKEY GRAHAM met
in Dublin to plot the gigs and they want SHANE LYNCH involved.
A source said: "They want to do the tour they promised the fans. Ronan has scuppered
their plans in the past so they want to try it without him. They reckon the
fans will still come."
Boyzone last played together in January 2000 when they announced they were planning
to give the band a break to concentrate on their solo careers.

Boyzone Kiss And Make
Up
November 12, 2001
Boyzone star Ronan Keating has made up with his estranged band mates. The other
four members of the boy band had not spoken to Ronan since he refused to re-form
the band for a farewell tour. Ronan says, "The truth is that we had fallen out.
But then two weeks ago at the airport, I was checking in and Keith came over
and said hello, and we made up. Shane and myself met up in London a few days
after the Pantene Awards and we talked and made up. "Then, like out of nowhere,
Mikey called me on the mobile to say hello. I made the final move and called
Stephen, and now we are all going to meet up for a drink. Boyzone are not touring
or anything, we're just mates again."

Ronan A Hit In Hollywood?
November 01, 2001
Former Boyzone heart-throb Ronan Keating is making waves in Hollywood with his soundtrack for a new film. The chart topper has recorded a track called "Caught" as the lead song for director Adrian Lyne's new film "Unfaithful," which stars Richard Gere. Ronan first recorded a soundtrack song for the Hugh Grant blockbuster "Notting Hill," for which he sang "When You Say Nothing At All." "Caught" will feature on both the soundtrack album for "Unfaithful" and as Ronan's second solo album, to be released in the spring next year.
Ronan Unpopular?
October 26, 2001
Former Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating is proving less-than-popular with gig-goers in his native Ireland. The singer has enjoyed a string of solo hits in Europe since dropping out of the squeaky clean boy band, but his success has failed to convince more mature fans of singer-songwriter Paul Brady that he's worth seeing. Keating is one of Brady's guests on the multi-instrumentalist's latest tour, but the Ronan date is proving the least popular with punters. Gig-goers would rather see Brady with a range of relative unknowns -- or even on his own -- than with the blonde star. A worker for ticket sales firm Ticketmaster says, "Maybe Paul Brady's audience isn't Ronan's. "It could be starting a bit late for some of them."

Ronan Wants Respect
October 09, 2001
Boyzozne star Ronan Keating is bitter at he way he believes people now treat him in his native Ireland. The "Life Is A Rollercoaster" hitmaker says that jurnalists take every opportunity to ridicule him. He says, "It's hard going from being the golden boy and everybody wanting a piece of you to people taking the p*** and slagging you. I'd love to come home to this country, like U2 do, and have people shake your hand and say 'Fair play to you.' We're all ambassadors for our country and people forget that. "I go out there and tell everyone around the world what a magical place Ireland is. Then I come home to the usual s***e." And the singer says he will never again take part in photo stories for the likes of Hello! and OK! magazines. He adds, "Celebrity is the most dangerous word around at the moment. It's horrible. I'm not a celebrity. A celebrity is someone who turns up and gets photographed hanging out with some girl."
Ronan Upset At Boyzone
Break Up
October 08, 2001
Former Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating is upset at the way in which the boy band bitterly broke up. He no longer sees any of his old band pals, but refuses to take the blame for the nasty separation. He says, "At the end, we planned to do something -- maybe a tour. We sat in a room and agreed to do solo projects. Then things happened and people fell out. I'm not going to dish the dirt on anyone because it's not my style. "We were great friends but things went a little odd. I still feel a bit sad about that because I would love to be friends still with some of the guys. But I won't take the blame. It's not my fault. "Shane has been mouthing off about all kinds of things. I just didn't know them as well as I thought I did. It's hard, we never thought it would end like this."
Keating's Second Go
At America
October 01, 2001
Ronan Keating is to have a second go at cracking America -- after the failure of his first attempt earlier this year. The "Lovin' Each Day" singer was stunned to learn that the single has only sold 25,000 copies in the States to date. This compares to Samantha Mumba who shifted 410,000 copies of her "Gotta Tell You" single release. So Ronan is going back across the Atlantic for another go. A record company source says, "Management are still very optimistic for him. He has a chance because there aren't very many white, clean-cut guys in the charts. 'Lovin' Each Day' didn't get the airplay they expected, so they cancelled the shows and everything. They're now going to release 'Life Is A Rollercoaster'."

Ronan: A Serious Song
Writer
August 8, 2001
Ex-Boyzone star Ronan Keating wants to break into songwriting -- by penning tracks with some well-known musical heavyweights. The hitmaker has already written a song with Desmond Child called "All I Ask," which was recorded by diva Dian Carroll and included on her Best Of album. And Ronan is now working with songwriters Gregg Alexander and Paul Brady as he records his second solo album. A music critic says, "He is very much into writing his own songs now and feels it is the only way to be taken seriously in the music industry. He's still at the stage where he needs to work with more established songwriters, but he's learning."
BOYBAD!
August 3, 2001
Furious Boyzone star Shane Lynch has threatened to attack Ronan Keating the next time the estranged band members meet. High-profile internal bickering between the boyband has been raging for months, and Lynch has now placed the blame squarely at the feet of Keating and his determination to succeed as a solo artist. Lynch claims Keating reneged on a commitment to get the band together for a US tour, scuppering his plans "for my next house in the Caribbean". He insisted: "I want to punch his lights out. I don't mind any man who wants to step out and do his own thing. We all decided to take a year out. "He said he was going to do a solo album and then come back to do our tour. If we had known he wasn't coming back we could have got on with our lives. That's why I'm pissed off", ranted Lynch. He insisted the tour was now "not going to happen" and concluded: "I just hope I never run into him again. I will put him down so hard. One day the devil will visit him."

OLDZONE
July 3, 2001
Ronan Keating is planning to launch the next stage of his solo career in the USA, as he aims to spread his appeal worldwide. Speaking to the Daily Record the Boyzone singer said he's enjoying the challenge of attracting a more grown-up audience: "It brings out the hunger in you", he said. "I'm not jaded yet. I love what I do. My solo career is taking off but I still have a lot to prove." Keating says he can already see changes in his audience at gigs: "The first five or six rows are filled with teen fans but behind them you can see couples and people my age and older. It's bizarre to see that change so quickly."

RONAN AND ANASTACIA
HOOK UP
July 3, 2001
Ronan Keating has taken another step in his bid to conquer the American market by teaming up with one of their newest exports, the funky, feisty New Yorker, Anastacia. It's rumoured that the track will by released as a single and featured on Ronan's next album, although a spokesperson for the ex-Boyzone star said, 'There's no decision about the track yet, but it's being worked on at the moment.' Ronan's currently on the verge of breaking the States and his latest release Lovin' Each Day has been playlisted on more than 90 radio stations in America and is expected to hit the Billboard charts within a month however the collaboration with Anastacia is expected to catapult him to the top. Blonde babe Anastacia, who bears a close resemblance to new mum Nicole Appleton, has been previously approached by Backstreet Boy AJ McLean for a duet with his alter ego Johnny No Name and AJ will no doubt be gutted that Ronan's beaten him to it.

RONAN INJURED BY MOB
May 22, 2001
Boyzone singer turned band manager and TV personality Ronan Keating appears to have suffered a wrenched neck after being mobbed before a concert. The deranged fans rushed through security guards, leapt onto the stage and grabbed the Irish singer at Britain's Newcastle Arena stage. Ronan emerged from the scrum after security intervened grimacing with his head tilted to one side and, although the concert went ahead, the singer continued to rub his neck throughout the gig. "These girls just went crazy," says a member of the audience. "Ronan looked flustered and in pain."

"I AM THE MUSIC MAKER....."
April 30, 2001
Boyzone creator and Westlife manager Louis Walsh has been spilling the beans about the almost robotic process behind making boybands. Pop impressario Walsh has explained that each member is picked to appeal to a different type of girl. The greater the difference in band members, the wider the audience they attract, he insists. "The girls must believe in the back of their minds that one day they'll go out with [every band member]," said Walsh in a Sunday newspaper. "It doesn't help the fanbase if one of the boys is in a relationship or having a baby, but I can't control their lives as much as I'd like to." As Walsh explains, his greatest concern, however, is when the band members start to grow up. "When you see facial hair, earrings and tattoos and they start to talk about being individuals, it's time to go to the conveyor belt and get a new set." Walsh also explained that five was the ideal figure for a boyband, whilst putting the boot into some of Westlife's contemporaries. He explained: "Five is the magic number: it gives people just enough to look at. BBMak and 911 have three, and it doesn't look right." Speaking of Boyzone: he concluded: "I was tempted to have four [members] because it would have been much easier to fit them in a Taxi."

RONAN ROCKS OUT
April 26, 2001
In an exclusive video interview with worldpop Ronan Keating has revealed that if he could be a member of another band for a day, he would choose Bon Jovi or U2. 'It would be a rock band,' he said. Ronan Keating also told worldpop that if he had the power to ban one type of music, he'd get rid of 'cheesy pop'. 'Some of the cheesy pop is just too cheesy,' he said, before adding, 'But we won't talk about that.' Ronan Keating is currently working on his second album, writing with Gregg Alexander with whom he wrote Life Is A Rollercoaster and current single Lovin' Each Day. And in keeping with his interest in rock music, he revealed, 'It's going to be a pop album again - I'm not going to go crazy and make an indie album - but it'll be a little bit more rocky.' Part 1 of worldpop's video interview with Ronan Keating will be on site later today. As well as his love of rock, Ronan talks about his forthcoming tour and getting stuck in quicksand on the set of his video! Ronan's new single Lovin' Each Day is out now. A re-packaged version of his debut album Ronan including the single will be released on 23 May.

KEATING: NO BOYZONE
REUNION
April 22, 2001
Singer Ronan Keating has said he is almost certainly not returning to Boyzone
- the all-boy group he fronted before embarking on a solo career.
Keating made his revelation in an interview with chat show host Michael Parkinson,
broadcast on BBC One on Saturday night.
The admission comes after months of speculation over the future of the chart-topping
group since Keating's solo success.
"A lot has gone on and I haven't talked to the guys in quite a while," said
Keating. "So to be really honest, I don't think anything's going to happen with
the band." Keating has had three solo hits, including two number ones, following
his drift away from Boyzone more than a year ago. Keating told Parkinson that
he began his solo pursuits with "every intention" of returning to Boyzone -
but then his career took off. "It wasn't going to happen this year because I
had my album launching in America so I thought about doing it next year," he
said. He continued: "I don't know what's going on (with the band) to be honest,
but I can't see it coming back together, by no fault of mine." Parkinson then
pressed Keating further, asking if Keating considered Boyzone "in the past".
Keating stated: "Oh OK! But you said that!"

YOU WERE MY EVERYTHING
April 20, 2001
Ronan Keating looks to have sunk the final nail into the coffin of Boyzone, after admitting he "can't see it coming back together". Keating - the only member of the hugely successful boyband to have enjoyed a notable solo career - appears to have confirmed months of speculation about the future of the band. Speaking on the BBC's 'Parkinson' TV show, Ronan will reveal on Saturday evening that the terminal situation is through "no fault of mine". He explains: "A lot has gone on and I haven't talked to the guys in quite a while. So to be really honest, I don't think anything's going to happen with the band." Since embarking on his solo venture, Keating has consummately overshadowed his fellow Boyzone members in their attempts to carve out successful careers alone. His two Number One singles have come in sharp contrasts to Mikey Graham, whose solo career is in tatters after the cancellation of a UK tour, and the disastrous chart placing of recent single 'You Are My Everything'. In the interview, Keating concludes: "I don't know what's going on to be honest, but I can't see it coming back together, by no fault of mine."

RONAN KEATING - 'LOVIN'
EACH DAY' (POLYDOR)
April
16, 2001
Ronan Keating has the wry smile of a likable enough lad who just can't believe his luck. And as long as that luck holds, he'll accept it with a knowing, nonchalant shrug and a cheeky aside. He'll be everybody's mate and never dare to say anything interesting or controversial, for that may indeed rock the boat and lose him the mums vote.
Penned by former New Radical Gregg Alexander, 'Lovin' Each Day' is an upbeat echo of 'Rollercoaster' (also written by Alexander). Sunshiny, inconsequential pop with a positive, 'isn't life just so ruddy wonderful' message. Yes it is mate, if you're the only member of Boyzone who's doing well.

BOYZONE IN ENDZONE?
March
29, 2001
The uncertain future of Boyzone has been rocked yet further, after it emerged just how strained relations are between Ronan Keating and the other members. Mikey Graham has revealed that he no longer has any contact with Keating, despite the bond they developed while becoming the biggest boyband in Europe. Graham, speaking in a radio interview, explained that Keating has also snubbed the possibility of a Boyzone reformation tour later this year. Of Keating, he insisted: "He doesn't phone, he doesn't call, he doesn't write. He's just looking in a different direction" "The boys aren't too happy with him. It's not really a good thing to do it took five people to make Boyzone and five people to make Ronan Keating". He continued: "We were supposed to do a tour at the end of the year for the fans and he turned round and said he didn't want to do it". Despite the revelations, Graham did suggest there was a "vague" possibility they would reform at some stage, reports the BBC. However, he said there would be no more choreographed dance routines. "If I successfully established myself as a credible singer-songwriter, I'm not going to go back prancing around the stage", Graham insisted.

RONAN PUTS BOYZONE OUT
OF POCKET
March 6, 2001
It's been reported that Ronan Keating has cost fellow Boyzone members their
share of £3million ($ 4.5million) by cancelling the band's tour dates.
Boyzone member Mikey Graham explains: "We had everything planned. There was
a lot of money on the table and we were all looking forward to it.
"But Ronan suddenly pulled out and we don't know why. Now none of us has any
room in our diaries for at least two years - so the fans are in for a long wait."
dotmusic reported in December last year that the guys were looking forward to
an arena tour, scheduled for November 2001.
In recent years, while the band has been silent, Ronan's solo career has rocketed.
As well as having chart-topping singles, he has managed a boyband and been a
TV presenter. The other band members are now said to be jealous and angry that
they haven't shared his success.
The cancellation will fuel further speculation about whether or not the band
have a future together.
