Sandboarding

Sandboarding is the same as snow boarding, except you don't have to wait for snow. If you are an amateur like me, use a boogie board and lie belly down on it at the top of a dune, then enjoy the swift ride to the bottom. You can maneuver the board with your body weight and slow yourself down by dragging your toes in the sand. If you've got any sense, (unlike me), you will keep your mouth shut until you have stopped, and avoid the gritty sensation of sang between your teeth. The only other part about sandboarding which I came to loathe, was the steep climb back up to the top of the dune with my board. Not a bad activity for an easy buzz!

If you wanna take sandboarding a step further, get yourself a proper sandboard, and perfect the art of surfing down dunes.

Where to go and how much to pay:
As long as you've got sand and a board you can go wherever you like, for minimal cost. Great for those days when you've no cash and can't think of anything to do! If you want to make it extra special, try out Fraser Island, where I went. It's the worlds largest sand island and there is certainly no shortage of dunes. For more details, check out sandboard.com

For the more ambitious:
If you're a dare-devil, have a go at somersaults and other acrobatics, as you glide your way down the dunes, but remember, sand isn't that soft when you stack it at 50km/hr!
