"What is Zorbing?" I hear you ask! Well, first of all I shall begin with the Zorb, another one of those crazy kiwi inventions. The Zorb is a big inflated double plastic sphere, held together with shock cords. Zorbing, is when you jump inside, and surrounded by a cushion of air about 70 cm. thick, you hurtle down the side of a hill at speeds of up to 50 kilometres per hour. The idea is that as the ball rolls around, the person inside (known as "the Zorbonaut") becomes pinned to the inside by centrifugal force.
Where to go and how much to pay:
As far as I am aware, New Zealand is the only place to go zorbing at present, unless you want to try this at home, a zorbing experience will set you back around $30 (NZ).
For the more ambitious:
To liven up your zorbing experience, ask for a couple of buckets of cold water to be tossed inside the sphere beside you. (This is allegedly a great cure for a hangover, but I wasn't convinced enough to try it!)
