How could we let this happen?
When we told each other,
“We’ll stay close.”
How did we drift so far apart?
What kind of force could have torn this friendship
apart?
Yet there is another force.
One lingering within our souls
Holding us together by a thin strand
What force is this?
Could both be love?
Could love be tearing us apart?
Bit by bit?
Piece by piece?
Could it be love that is holding us together?
Mending our torn souls?
Making that thin strand grow stronger
Day by day
Each moment we think of each other?
If I could see you once more
And we could be together
These questions of mine would have answers
For now, I’ll never know
