In Her Eyes

I've seen her brows furrow in anger
I've seen her eyes light up
And widen, in a beautiful smile
I've seen her wink at me,
In playful comradeship
She know me better
Than even I, know myself
She taught me things to anticipate
Things to avoid
And things I can live with
Many qualities she passed to me
Hoping that I may have
A better life than she did
Many a time I have flared up at her
Wanting her to understand me
As an adult and not a child
Many a time she has hurt my feelings
With words so harsh and critical
But deep down I know
Though hard sometimes to accept
That in her her eyes,
I'm a princess, a beautiful angel
