My world, welcome to it!

"It seems to me that the best relationships, the ones that last, are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship. You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before. Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with."
-Dana  Scully, X-Files

LIFE'S TOO SHORT. You could go out tomorrow and get hit by a bus, for God's sake!. And would you want your last thought to be an angry one? Your last impression to be a malicious one? Love each other. Love yourselves. Today is a gift; that's why they call it the present.

So many people to thank, so many people to congratulate, so many people to mock. And not necessarily in that order. Of course, my mother did say, if you can't say anything nice, come sit next to me...or was it don't put it in your mouth if you don't know where it's been? Whatever....But relax--if you don't see your name here, it doesn't mean I don't love you...oh, wait, yeah it does.

Very tired and kinda lazy (and by lazy I might mean drunk--I blame Dion) so rather than blather on, here's a link to my protocol:

IT WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO TODAY....

ANDREW: This weekend, heck, this whole year wouldn't have been the success it was without you! Your lightning wit surprises me in the best way, and your unfailing optimism makes me want to be more like you--Brett's a lucky guy!
BRETT: And so is Andrew *L* You have the knack; a way of looking at the parts of something and making it whole. And I don't just mean the cardboard and the painter's tape, although let's face it--no one can do it like you! I mean your work this year helped heal some fractures that could have grown fatal if left on their own. Don't ever change and I won't even ask you to slow down--we are so lucky to have you! ps your family rocks!! *insert dad's best quote here*
BRUCE AND DANIEL: Bruce I hope your cold is better; Avaughna, thanks for the laffs!
DEREK: Dezza! Great makeup--I hope one day you get to do that as a career--although I'd love to work with you at Access first!
DION BOINK SANOIR: Damn you and your white sambuca! And of course thank you for joining in the festivities the way you do--we love having you! Oh, and congrats Madge, you always do Calgary so proud!
EVION WATERS: Remember, there's only drama if you make it drama. Just do your thing and trust others to fall in line or get out of the way. And don't ever put your self worth in someone else's hands!
GIA DIAMOND: You're so beautiful and I'm delighted to have rekindled such an awesome friendship!
HELLACIOUS: I love your hosting style, please keep doing it!
JADE: So glad to see you back out in the community--can't wait to see you perform again!
JEROD: Missed you this weekend--you are a treasured friend. Glad the move went well ! See you soon!
JOELLE: You are such an awesome friend--Benedict's lucky to have us and I'm lucky to have you!
JUICY: Eat a sandwich! You work every look  like no one I know! ps thanks for trying to make Lexi look pretty at brunch *L*
KEL SURPRISE: From "merry murderer" to rockin' a kilt, I love everything you do--thanks for being here as often as you have been and I can't wait to see you again!
KERRY: BEST EMPEROR EVER! Thank you thank you thank you for everything you do! Your friendship is invaluable to me! And dammit yes, we are here for a good time!!
KORINNE:  Bring on the tranny-cam! You are more amazing than words can say--when we talk about people doing it right, your name always comes up! ps your casual look rocks!
KRISTIE:So pretty and so sweet, every time I see you!
KRICKET: That 'fro was legendary! It was so great to see you out and having fun this weekend!

"You think I want to start making friends at my age?
Christ. Who would be friends with me? I hate everyone and everything seems stupid to me.

You were always the counter balance to that. The guy who was the Yin to my Yang.
Now what am I going to do with the rest of my fucking life?"
-Randal Graves, Clerks II

MITCHELL: "You counter despair with hope. You strive forever for the best you are capable to be! Therein lies the victory!" Thank you so much for being my rock so many times. And I'm happy to pull out those tears any time you want me to! Love you!
RAE: Take care of yourself, hon, we wanna keep you! Thank you for the sweet note under my door--yeah, I nearly fell on my drunken head trying to pick it up, but it was sweet nevertheless *L* Drop by anytime, neighbour!
RICHARD (SHERI): My first girlcrush! I love watching you on stage, and your smile lights up the room--always be happy!!
ROBERT: Even if you weren't so amazing in so many ways, or, you know, shacked up with my best friend, you'd still be awesome cos your last name starts with CUMBER! Also, you are a total star on stage--hope to see lots more! THANK YOU SO MUCH for the ride home!
RYAN B.: I enjoy playing gaymes with you and I like it when you bartend, but I love to see you on stage! When's that gonna happen again?
SANDY BEECHES: So quiet and demure, with so much going on behind that sweet demeanor (and those giant bosoms!) I know you'll go on to greatness in all that you do!
STEPHANIE: The smile and voice of an angel!
TRIXIE PAN AM: Oh Trixie--what can I say that hasn't been written on a million bathroom walls? JAZZY!! You bring so much to the room--you'll always be the go to gal for the best quotes, and I promise that no matter where the future takes us, even a hundred years from now, if you show up at my house, you can sleep at me (after pizza and off sale!)
YADA: Gerrard you should rename yourself DJ PATIENCE! You make us all look good up there on the stage and make shows a good time for everyone, on or off the stage--thank you!!

so I never have to live without you.”

GIRTH BROOKS AND MERCEDEZ BENZ, MR AND MISS GAY REGINA 24: Brilliant! Every function you held this year was a success! And I don't mean just $$ You guys brought unlimited talent and personal resources to every event and it made a difference. You worked hard to make every function epic, and we saw the results--in bar revenue, in compliments for performances, sets and organization, and in the pride that was palpable in our community center, knowing that our elected representatives were making us look so so good! Thank you for all you did for the GLCR!

ADAM GOODTIME and LEXI TRES BELLE: Hi kids, it's your gramma speaking! I get it. No, really, even though you prolly think I was born this old and bitter, I really was a kid once too! I am in awe of your enthusiasm and talent, and won't hesitate to tell you that every chance I get. But I'll always be your worst Devil's advocate too, because I want to help you, and in some ways protect you, but not at the price of losing what makes this community so precious to me. I have every faith in you to do what's right for the GLBTQ community, and know that I will always do what I can for you, and for sure I will always be here to pick on you too! xo

"I am a PR disaster because I talk too much."--Benedict Cumberbatch

GLCR: To all the staff and volunteers: keep up the good work, the GLCR would not exist without you! So much more than a nightclub and lounge, the GLCR is clearly a family--cos only family can make you want to do a coin toss between kiss and kill! Thank you Cory for stepping up and into a thankless position that might kill you before we thrive. Our management team is slowly growing as a unit to make the bar brilliant, and volunteers like Jen, Evan, Nicki, Jon, Dylan, Patty, Chantalle, Ryan and Jessica make it a welcoming safe space for everyone! We've got a new Board in place too, and it can't possibly be as toxic as the last one, so that's a good thing. Here's to another 40 years!
KINK Regina:  We're glad we could offer you a home at the GLCR, and we are invested in helping you thrive and succeed! We will support you in all your endeavours!
QUEEN CITY PRIDE:  Our Pride Week is becoming the stuff of legend! But remember, for best results, some of you probably want to take the sticks out of your entitled twink student asses and try working with actual other gay people...you know, at the GAY bar....even if they are, god forbid, over twenty five. You'd be surprised what you might learn....
RSAR: such a vital part of Regina's GLBT community. Without you, this community would have closed up shop twenty years ago, and now here we are, community and drag, working and succeeding like never before. It's brilliant and I wouldn't want it any other way. Mitchell, China, you and your House have made it an absolute joy to promote and participate in all your endeavours!

John: "That...was amazing."
Sherlock: "Do you think so?"
John: "Of course it was, it was extraordinary. It was quite extraordinary."
Sherlock: "That's not what people normally say."
John: "What do people normally say?"
Sherlock: "Piss off."

MICK: Some days I miss you so much it's like there's no air in the room. No one will ever take your place.

HUGS: Dean, Cas, Harvey, Mike, Steve, Danny, Neal, Peter, Sherlock, John, Ianto, Jack, Blair, Jim, Giles, Spike, Lex, Clark, Fox, Walter....
KUDOS :Anyone who found their way to Sunday brunch or TV night. Thanks, you make me feel special; Online friends and fans, you are my support system and I couldn't do any of it without you--I really am that internet success story ; all out of town guests who make Regina more beautiful by virtue of their presence and home town folks who do the same; God Bless you all....

There's more and more after that, and I'd probably go on and on if I didn't have to be up in four hours to open the bar for the brunch bunch!  At any rate, I'll add names later if I feel like it, if I remember, or if you email me to bitch about not being in here!

Oh, and don't forget:

In my world, the coffee is strong as death, black as hell and sweet as love (and always made by Ianto Jones). The smoking section is always open. Fox Mulder is always just as close as my dvdplayer, Slow Motion Walter is always more than  just a blues song,  and the Gunmen always visit on Friday. Bunnies and bears always frolic in my living room, Blair Sandburg is always the bottom, there is always a next Sunday, everything's Benedict and nothing hurts, and finally, the Blanches are always shaken, never stirred.
That's enough to be going on with, don't you think?
