Confirming the Covenant with Many
Last Call Ministries
Daniel 9:27 |
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. |
Some have suggested that this is a reference to the anti-Christ. Well, Yes and no. I’ll explain. To confirm something means to affirm something that already exists. The covenant spoken of here is the Jesus covenant and not the ill-minded land for peace treaty that brings Israel to near annihilation. Remember this covenant has pre-existed which is why it is confirmed with many. It is a reference to the promised week in that a remnant of Israel finds Jesus and becomes his main instrument in proclaiming his gospel to the world during the tribulation. To cause something is to allow or permit it to be or take place. This is clearly a reference to something anti-Christ does in fact do, however he can do nothing unless he is permitted to do so. Anti-Christ is exercising his own personal will but only when Jesus is willing to allow him to do so. There are two separate events happening here in conjunction with each other. One event leads to eternal life the other, eternal destruction.
The Jews will have their temple and revert to the animal sacrifices of the Law of Moses. Also at the same time Jesus begins to awaken a portion of the Jews with his Gospel by the Holy Spirit, initially through the two prophets of Revelation.
The very fact that the Jews revert to the Mosaic sacrifices is an insult and an abomination to God since the covenant of Jesus has replaced the old and is everlasting; therefore it completely invalidates the old. Here is the promise of the new covenant given by the prophet:
Jeremiah 31:31 |
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: |
Jeremiah 31:32 |
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: |
Jeremiah 31:33 |
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. |
Here is the symbolic gesture as a reminder of what Jesus accomplished and instituted through his own blood; spilled for us at Calvary when he was crucified for our sin as God’s sacrificial lamb.
Luke 22:19 |
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. |
Luke 22:20 |
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament [Covenant] in my blood, which is shed for you. |
As was the old so is the new covenant sealed with blood. Just to show that this new covenant is an everlasting one God further says in Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 31:36 |
If those ordinances [of the promised new covenant] depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. |
The Jewish people are still around so it proves the covenant is eternal.
The Majority of the Jews though will continue to reject the new covenant and the so-called Christian leaders of today will support Israel’s rejection of the truth as the angels of God weep for their concurring stupidity.
Since this Old Testament retrofit takes place as a part of a greater worldwide religious pluralism, which is the ideology of Mystery Babylon; Jesus therefore allows or brings, [whichever you prefer] the Russian-Islamic alliance against Israel. The Prophet Joel bears this out:
Joel 1:4 |
That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten. |
Joel 1:5 |
Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. |
Joel 1:6 |
For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. |
Joel 1:7 |
He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white. |
Joel 1:15 |
Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand , and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. |
Notice it says "ALAS" meaning this is not a happy experience rather it is a judgment for sin. The entire world including those who claim "in name" to be the ambassadors of Jesus will be affected.
Also it is very important to Notice that when God refers the four insects of Joel 1:4 that consume the fruit of the field, he is in fact referring to the very four Kingdoms foretold in Daniels prophecies. These kingdoms are those that would affect literal Israel and Daniels prophecy first references Babylon who brought the children of Israel into captivity by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar [Babylon, Persia, Greece and finally end time global Babylon -Today’s globalization of the earth]. This captivity was permitted as a judgment for the turning away from God by Israel.
Now not as to mistake this reference by Joel with a separate event, the Roman destruction of Jerusalem, one has to understand today’s political landscape with the Land for Peace effort of the Global community.
Joel 3:2 |
I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. |
The Land for Peace deal is in direct opposition to God’s promise to Abraham. Even though the Old Testament is fulfilled and therefore invalidated by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, the cross itself is also a fulfillment and confirmation of one part of Abraham’s covenant, a covenant given before the Law of Moses. The other part of Abraham’s covenant is the Promised Land, which is why it is called promised in the first place, because it still is. It is just like the promise made by God to Noah when he told him he would not destroy the earth again by a flood and set his bow in the sky as sign of that promise. The Noah promise still stands doesn’t it?
This is the only time in human history that the world has decided to dissect the land that God Promised to Israel. Only the devil and his children would try to invalidate a promised covenant made by God. If it were possible to revoke this promise surely then the Satan would ratchet up the deception with the idea that if this promise has faltered then the word of God must not be true therefore Jesus being the only way, truth and the life must further be a fallacy. Jesus isn’t going to let that happen, yet it appears though that he is willing to let the world run blindly down its faltered demonic course, believing that they have overcome God. Watching the world drop their collective jaw in disbelief when he returns is a sweet savor in the nostrils of God and one I am going to witness personally as I return with Jesus.
Joel also declares a scattering of Israel among the nations, which Zechariah 14:2 confirms and is reaffirmed in Revelation 11:2. This is not a reference to the Roman invasion; rather it’s a forty-two month occupation of the holy land by the gentile nations at the end of the generations of mankind.
Zechariah 14:2 |
For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. |
Revelation 11:2 |
But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. |
Daniel says it is the overspreading of Abominations that causes this Day of the Lord to come forth. The very fact that Joel says the New Wine is cut off from their mouth shows that by and large that Israel [the primary focus at this time but this phrase also includes the entire world.] is rejecting the Gospel. Jesus is also revealing himself through this event. He will allow the nations to come exercising their free will and in his chosen time then judge them accordingly. The world meant it for evil but God will turn it to good.
Is there any doubt that Joel is describing events also revealed in Revelation? In fact this event is also consistent with Zechariah 12, Ezekiel 38-39. The Book of Revelation gives the complete picture, refining the point if you will.
There is a Myriad of issues all being settled simultaneously with this one event that covers the tribulation period. Here are some key points:
There is judgment for the rejection of the Gospel by the majority of the world including Israel called the tribulation.
The enforcement of a steadfast promise made my by God, God lives up to his promises even as the entire world opposes it.
The affirmation and reception of the Gospel with many for seven years, including a remnant one third of the Jewish people.
Retribution for the slaughter of God’s faithful [Those professing Jesus Christ].
Israel, the largely secular nation, after she has been attacked, overcome, taken in captivity and while occupied for the prophesied 42 months will again seek God and this time the remnant will discover their long rejected Messiah is in fact Jesus Christ and they will weep for him as they would for an only child which they had lost. Then, a fountain for their uncleanness is opened, Jesus through the Holy Ghost reveals himself to the remnant of Israel.
Jesus will come and defend the Nation [proving that the covenant made with Abraham still stands] at the battle of Armageddon against all the nations of the earth for none of them are her friends.
The False global religious system and Beast kingdom with her are judged, destroyed and both her false, artificially Christian-flavored prophet, along with the anti-Christ political leader are cast alive into the lake of fire.
Finally Jesus establishes his everlasting Kingdom on earth.
Clearly Daniel reveals that the tribulation is a judgment against a Christ rejecting world. The judgment is poured upon the desolate. If Jesus is in you then you are NOT the desolate therefore free from the judgment of the tribulation and that freedom is soon to be revealed through the Rapture of God’s people.
Isaiah 57:1 |
The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. |
If you have not asked Jesus into your life, today is the day of salvation. Jesus may come tonight for his church and then comes the horror of the tribulation where only those who are willing to lay down their lives for Jesus can be saved from eternal judgment.
Salvation is a precious gift, an honor for you being bought and paid for in full with the blood of Jesus Christ. Receive him today. He will not refuse you no matter what you may have done, nor how vile an act you may have committed. Jesus has an eternal pardon waiting, reserved in your name. It would be foolish to miss out on the free gift.
Amen.
