Following the moving damage I decided to change the track
arrangement in Granger. The original track survived, but the structures
were demolished.
As the photo illustrates, I removed the original track and replaced two of the Kato#4 turnouts with two #6 turnouts. The LH#6 (left side of the photo) will lead back to the staging yard. The trailing point turnout (right side of the photo) will lead to a small team track for the mine. |

Here is a slightly different angle - mostly taken to show
off my new camera (and the fact that my spouse is shorter than I am ;-)!
The divider is next - and as shown below, creates a nice effect. Please compare the new track arrangement with the old pictured below. |

"Old Granger"...Gone but not forgotten.

My original dividing backdrop was created with foam core. I purchased a new sheet from WalMart and after measuring for height and width, produced this new piece. I made some quick cuts for the track (these will be hidden by the buildings and scenery) and have positioned with some Elmer's Brand Wood Glue. A paper packing tape seam will marry the two backdrops. Awaiting paint and clouds.
This is the same angle with the first coat of blue paint applied to the backdrop.
Again, the same view. | ||
A test train added for scale.
Another shot ot the test train.
This shot show some scenery work that I have begun in one of the creeks.
This stone culvert is from Mr. Plaster/Model Railstuff. I have
several items by the manufacturer that I am adding to the layout - simply
a great product. Visit them at http://www.modelrailstuff.com/
The culvert replaces two plate girder bridges that were removed to make way for the new structures in Granger. |
