The Amazing Weather
Well, as most of us would say the weather was amazing.  The week of the meet the rain kept coming.  Most of us (except Tom Cantor) have to drive our trucks every day so we had some pretty dirty trucks up to the morning of the meet.  The weather lifted Friday May 18th turning beautiful.  Then come Monday morning the weather returned to rain for another week and a half of rain.  I have to say that we all lucked out to get beautiful weather for the meet.

Stories From The Day
I meet Ryan and Jeff at the Kroger in Reynoldsburg, OH at 9:30 to head up to the meet.  You should have seen Ryan go through a red light.  It wasn't just red for a couple of seconds!  It took us exactly 1 hour to get there.  When we pulled in, James and Tom Cantor were already their cleaning there daks.  Later James said that it was awesome to see us pull in together.  After we got out and stretched we shined our trucks.  As more showed and our trucks were all clean, we started to just BS with each other.  Then all of the sudden, the ONLY R/T showed up.  The crowd swarmed around the truck.  As David got out he said that his truck was stock...HA HA HA!  Well some special mention goes to Kevin and Tom Stack for driving so far.  They both came from the Chicago area.  As 11:00 am rolled around we headed into Ralphies for some grub.

Ralphies had enough tables for our large group of 17 people.  The food was great and we all were able to talk to each other.  As we all paid out we headed to the track.  James lead while i carried the rear.  We had to make a left turn on a busy street so we got separated.  As we went through downtown John lead our mini pack.  Now remember that no one in my group had ever seen the roads.  John was incredible!  Great job.  I would have never found those roads.

It was quite a scene to see all 10 trucks (Tom Stack had to jet after lunch) pull into the track.  Only 2 trucks didn't race...no hard feelings to Jr. (very rare truck) and Tom Cantor (out of warrantee + his truck has been pulling a 27 code on his computer which is his injector which he just replaced).  Can you blame them?  I would hate to run a rare truck and one that is not running up to par.  Well on to the racing.  Check out the video of the pro DAK.  That was sweet!  On to us poor folk racers.  Lets start off with David and his R/T.  He came back after first round time trials and was really pissed!  It didn't run like it should have.  With some little tweaks coming soon he will be able to get her up there.  I want to say wow to John!  This truck is a sweeper.  Check out his modifications.  Great job John.  Well on to Jeff.  How he got that thing going so fast is a mystery.  James has the exact same truck and was running slower with more mods.  Great job Jeff.  Don't worry James we will get that thing faster.  Well onto the results from the track.  As we were preparing for the eliminations we all lined up in one row so we wouldn't take each other out in the first round.  Poor Tim Kummerer!  He had to run against a brand new Pontiac Bonneville that was supercharged and had a laptop hooked up.  Tim had no chance...sorry.  Well they changed how they took the trucks and we ended up taking each other out.  I ran against James.  The only good thing that came out of it was that it guaranteed a DAK in second round.  Well since someone had to win it was me (Tim Althoff).  Special note that Ryan should have mad it into second round.  The dialed in at a 16.10 and ran a 16.104, but his lost because of his slower reaction time...bummer!  I was the only one to make it into second round  :(  Maybe next time we can get more.  I went out after second round.  Lastly, Hats off to those that have never raced before...Kevin & John.
