IF JESUS CAME Would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in? Or hide some magazines, and put the Bible where they'd been? Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out? Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about? And I wonder if the Saviour spent a day or two with you, Would you go right on doing, the things you always do? Would you go right on saying, the things you always say? Or would life for you continue as it does from day to day? Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you go? Or would you maybe change your plans for just a day or so? Would you be glad to have Him meet your closest friends? Or would you hope they stay away until His visit ends? Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on? Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone? It might be interesting to know, the things that you would do, If Jesus came in person, to spend some time with you. ~~Author Unknown~~

I THINK WE SHOULD DO SOMETHING NICE EVERYDAY FOR SOME PERSON OR CREATURE. I WONDER WHY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THINGS THEN DO NOTHING TO TRY TO MAKE THE THINGS THAT THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT BETTER?? I ALSO WONDER WHY PEOPLE GIVE UP ON THINGS WHEN IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS TO HARD OF A THING TO DO. NO WONDER THINGS IN THIS WORLD DO NOT CHANGE FOR THE BETTER...IF THINGS ARE TO BE MADE RIGHT, OR IF THINGS IN THIS WORLD ARE NOT GOOD WE NEED TO MAKE THEM BETTER OR NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT THEM. IF WE ALL PASS THE BUCK NOTHING EVER SEEMS TO GET DONE, AND POSITIVE CHANGES DO NOT TAKE PLACE. THE STORY BELOW IS A GREAT EXAMPLE....I THINK WE ALL NEED TO STAND UP FOR OUR BELIEFS AND TRY TO IMPROVE THINGS IN THIS WORLD. IF WE ALWAYS WAIT FOR OTHERS TO DO THINGS THEY MAY NEVER GET DONE.........

"COMPASSION"

I went to Kmart one night when the weather during that few weeks was around zero or lower. I saw a cat in the parking lot so scared and so cold that it could hardly walk right. I love animals so I tried to feed it with food I purchased at Kmart. I could not get close to the cat, because even with hurt feet and it would run. I left the food after trying for over an hour to catch it unsuccessfully, wet and very cold myself I gave up. I worried about it all night, I felt so sorry for it. I wondered how long it had been there, later I heard from people over a month. No wonder it was wild and scared.

I returned to that store night after night for over three weeks in the freezing weather to feed and try to catch it. I got to the point where I thought I should give up because it seemed as if I were getting no where. Every night I left food there for it. Hardly anyone seemed to care, a few people tried to call it, one lady tried to help my trap it for a few minutes, but that was it. I could not believe the things I heard. Some people that would see it said "oh, let it go", or "if it dies it dies", that the way of life for animals" or "it's just a cat. One cold hearted person about 18 years old even said "oh, I would just run over it".

I saw people watching me like I was crazy for trying to get it from under cars or laying on the walkway trying to grab this cat. The more days that passed the more determined I became on saving it. Sometimes my daughter would help out w ewould get so close then fail. Once we had it in a box and it fought its way out, i chased it on foot sometime then gave up that day. I felt it had a right to live. It was probably dumped by some uncaring cold hearted person.

I ask the shelter for help and was given none. I felt as if I were doing the shelters job yet was refused help with the situation in various ways. Pets Supplies Plus loaned me a cage to help me catch it. After about three weeks of getting close to catching it and failing I was ready to think it was meant to be wild. Yet I was compelled to still try. I felt it was the right thing to do. I thought even if I could not catch it I would leave food out for it.

One night when I least expected it I went there to put food down and leave when all of a sudden the cat came up to me, I stood motionless and within five minutes the cat came up to me and began rubbing against my legs. I did not move for fear it would be scared off again. I got down on the gound and I could not believe it let me pet it after awhile. I have no words to describe how wonderful that moment was. It had grown to trust me finally. I got the cage out of my car and finally with a long struggle got the cat in the cage. It went crazy and howled and carried on. I took that cat home and warmed it, feed it, then within a short time this cat was so loving. Well, it has now been three months since that night and he is here on my lap as I write this. You would not know it was the same cat. He is so lovable and nice now, it just took a bit of time and patience.

I have no words to tell anyone about what a wonderful feeling it is to know that in a world so full of pain, hate, and other bad things that go on how good it feels to have done something good and saved that cats life. Had I not, by now he would be dead, or so wild and also making unwanted litters of strays. I wonder why a lot of people are so uncaring about living things, and do not take time to help poor innocent creatures, why they are so cruel to dump them when they have no use for them, or if the pet displeases them for some reason. I also wonder why people are not more determined in the things they try to do in life.

I am so happy that I stuck to my goal of helping that cat. Happy my family wanted to also give it a chance to live and be safe. He is a wonderful pet and so happy, and now, very affectionate, I have dogs and cats which I have adopted from the shelter I had not planned on a new addition, but when I look into this happy, loving cats eyes I know why, because it was the right thing to do and because he is such a joy to have around.

Would I do it again? YES in a heartbeat! It was a lot of effort and hard work but it paid off. Compassion is something we should all use in life if we did this world could be better than it is. Lifes rewards are often paid back in the deeds we do, but so many do not get these rewards because they are to busy or think someone else can do the deed. If we all think like that not much will get done.

People complain about things yet often they do not get involved to make changes in the things they complain about. Let compassion be in your heart, and you too can feel the wonderful rewards of its outcome no matter what the compassion pertains too. Mary -published in our local newspaper...
