John Gay

John and Ibbie Gays first home was in Rush Creek. The house was built around a tree stump, and the stump served as the dinner table. They then moved to Turkey Branch, in Leslie County, Kentucky, above the mouth of Leatherwood. As John would get a logging job, the family would move. At one time the family lived in Onieda Kentucky. John would use crosscut saws, in his logging. They bought a home from John and Mary Estep, in Sizerock, Leslie, Kentucky, and John took up farming.
