Thought to be the daughter of William Shepherd, Tryon County, North Carolina
Was discovered in the forest by the Shepherd family near Hawkins Co. TN. They adopted her, she was about ten, and spoke Cherokee. Some sorces indicate she was like a wild animal when found. It is uncertain if she had been abandoned by her people or lost.
