Marriage license contract for September 20, 1837 between Joshua Hoskins and Patsy Jones
Know all men by these present, that we
Joshua Hoskins and Wilie Jones are held and
firmly bound unto the common wealth of Ky.
In full sum of fifty pound's current
money. For which payment will and truly be
made good. We bind our self's, our heir's and
Signed sealer and acknowledger, this 20th
day of Sept. 1837. The condition's of the
above obligation is such that when as the
said J. Hoskins is about to obtain from
George Stivers clerk of Clay County Ky. a
license for a marriage intended between the
said J. Hoskins and Patsy Jones. How if
the said J. Hoskins shall, will and truly
perform this his marriage contract unless
some lawful cause shall prevent this
obligation to be void. Other wise to remain
in force and virtue.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky
To any minister of Gospel or other persons
legally authorized to solmenize the Rites
of Matrimony. You are hereby permitted to
solmenize the Rites of Matrimony between
John Hoskins and Sallie Ann Britain. The
requirements of the law having been
complied with witness my signature as Clerk
of the Clay County Courts this 7th day of
January 1867.
