THE LEGEND - Holiday World

The entire ride is themed to the story of the Headless Horseman, so it is only fitting that the station is a schoolhouse. Sometimes the bell rings mysteriously......You can see the train begining its harrowing journey. DON'T LOOK BACK!

As the beautiful purple Gerstlaur train rolls off the lift, it does a slight dip before plunging 113' into the first of four tunnels. The THUNDER of the train roaring through this tunnel can be heard all over the park! 2002 brings 2 new PTC trains to replace the Gerstlauer, meaning higher capacity!

Can you find the train in this overwhelming madness of lumber? This is the famous double helix that is barely banked! Ahhh, the smell of fresh pine as you fly through the tunnels.

On the return to the station, the train shoots through the lift hill, slamming you against the side on one of the many fast direction-changing curves. the first drop is above.

Don't ask me how this happened! I see no less than 3 images in this exposure, which was taken going up the lift. It seems that something supernatural took over during the ride......

On opening weekend in April 2000, Stark Raven Mad attendees got a warm welcome from the park with all kinds of events, including a photo walkback that allows extreme closeups with the coasters. Here we see the last of the construction material leftover as the ride looms in the distance.

A view of the spiral drop from ZOOMbabwe!

A PTC shoots over the double up and heads towards the underground tunnel.

The Horseman chases a new PTC through the structure, and under a close clearance with the new ZOOMbabwe waterslide.

Terrain-twister--Built 2000 by CCI

Located at Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. Packed with 116' lift, plenty of tightly banked turns and sudden drops, this story of the Headless Horseman is told in the most unusual of ways. The ride begins at a station themed like a school house, and takes off with a beautiful purple and yellow train. After climbing high above the trees, you plunge into one of several tunnels, twisting and turning from one direction to the other. You have no idea where the train is going next, as you brace yourself for what appears to be the scariest ride of your life. Complete with tunnels, a double helix, a double-up (where the train gains altitude twice in the same hill coasting up), and more S-curves than the state of California, this ride is unmatched! And all to end with a breathtaking screech to a halt at the station. Even better is a ride at night. You won't walk away from this one disappointed. Anyone who has flown along with the RAVEN there, will tell you that Holiday World and CCI mean business when it comes to thrills. There is no better place on earth to prove that bigger isn't better. We don't need world records here, folks. This coaster will forever hold a reputation all its own. Indiana's finest coaster at Indiana's finest park. PERIOD.
