More to come SOON! |
. When we say Allah, we should follow it with subhanahu wa ta'ala
A man said: "O' Messenger of Allah! The teachings of the faith have become many upon me, so tell me of something which I can adhere to." To which Prophet Muhammad replied: "That your tongue remain moist with the remembrance of Allah, The Exalted." ( Reported by At-Tirmithi)
.
.
When we are speaking and we refer to the Prophet Muhammad, (say his name) we should say salla Allahu alayhi wa salaam ( May Allah bestow his Grace, Honor, and Peace upon him.) When we hear someone say salla Allahu alayhi wa salaam, we should say allahuma sallee ala muhammad
. .
When you sneeze, you should say Al-hamdu-lil-Lah. If your brother or sister in Islam hear you say Al-hamdu-lil-Lah after you sneeze, then they should say Yarhamuk 'Allah (May Allah have mercy on you.) . Then you should reply to them Yahdeekum Allah wayuslih bakakum.
Person Sneezing: Al-hamdu-lil-Lah
Muslim who hears a Muslim sneeze: Yarhamk 'Allah
Person who sneezed replies: Yahdeekum Allah or Yahdeekum
Allah wayuslih bakakum
It is reported that the Prophet said: "If one of you sneezes let him say: Al hamdu lil lah and let his brother or companion say to him: May Allah have mercy on you (yarhamuk 'allah) then if he says Yarhamuk 'allah, let him say: May Allah guide you and better your affairs (yahdeekum 'allah wayuslih balakum) and in one narration: All praise is to Allah upon all circumstances (al hamdu lil lah `ala kull halin) [Reported by Bukhari]
When I was first teaching my children about Islam, when they would sneeze I would say "And when we sneeze we say Al-hamdu-lil-Lah." After they said al-hamdu-lil-Lah I would say "yarhamuk Allah" this way they were learning by example. When they got into the habit of saying yarhamkum Allah to me when I sneezed that gave me the opportunity to start saying yahdeekum 'Allah to them so they could again learn by example.
We can sit and try to teach our children all we want them to know but if we don't show them by example then they are likely to forget. And Allah knows better than anyone.
. .
When a NON-Muslim sneezes you should say Yahdeekum 'Allah wa yuslihi balakum which means May Allah guide you and better your affairs.
Abi Musa related that the Jews used to sneeze at the place at the Prophet, peace be upon him, hoping that he would say yarhamukum 'allahu; however,he would say: Yahdeekum'allahu wa yuslihi balakum. May Allah guide you, and better your affairs. [Reported by Bukhari and others]
.
We should try not to yawn because the shaytaan (devils) like to see people yawn. If we can't stop a yawn we should cover our mouth and not make any noise when we yawn.
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
The Prophet said, "Allah likes sneezing and dislikes
yawning, so if someone sneezes and then praises Allah (says
alhamdulillah), then it is obligatory on every Muslim who heard
him, to say: May Allah be merciful to you (Yar-hamuka-l-lah). But
as regards to yawning, it is from Satan, so one must try one's best
to stop it, if one says 'Ha' when yawning, Satan will laugh at
him." [Bukhari 8.240]
