This past summer we saw the death and resurrection (on the third day ironically) of our dear Simon the Tennis Ball. Simon died at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources amphitheatre during "Heart and Soul." This is the Eulogy I wrote, at the Sale of Champions actually for our dearly departed and resurrected friend Simon. *It's hard to say goodbye to you, my greenish-yellow friend. You've made me laugh, you've made me smile, you've even made me grin. You're the one who taught me how to sing, from "Side by Side" to "Let Freedom Ring". Sing long and not wide, the only way to sing with pride. I loved you Simon my bouncy friend, and I'm truly sorry you came to your end. I'll go on in my life, I'll really truly try. But I'll always love you Simon, it's hard to say goodbye. My sister was in love with you, she tried to make your clone. But no one can replace you, for you are you alone. You felt the urge to get all wet, the desire to go for a swim, but when into the water you lept, I cried and screamed within. They tried to save you, three very valient men, but you were too far gone, your life they could not mend. Why did you have to jump and swim? Why did you want to be free? Why did you have to go to the water? How could you leave me?
