FUSHIGI YUUGI
SEIRYUU CHARACTERS

青龍の巫女七星

Ok, I know everyone supposedly hate Nakago 心宿, cuz he's just the major bad guy in the first part of FY, but although I also reckon he's a bit nasty at times, sometimes he's a real neat character. First of all, he's the "driving force" that helped Miaka's gang become stronger physically and mentally. And this leads to the bad Yui actually bond with her friend better when she realised he was a baddy. He's basically the point of the story really, I mean, without him, the story would be plain boring. Nakago is awesome also cuz of his sophisticated powers. Seriously, I don't know why he can't just annhilate the Suzaku gain, cuz apparantly at the start his powers were definately greater than them all combined. What's the point with all that evil planning when he could've knocked them all out! <my POV here, if u want to say something for or against, let me know by email! I'd love to hear other's POV> So that was a bit strange, besides <spoiler here> Tamahome's 'strong' powers weren't enough to defeat him, only the lost of his powers can...so really Nakago is just invincible, how that all went wrong is quite fascinating. Nevertheless, bad guy he is, I still think he's pretty cool. (BTW, the reason he went really evil was cuz of his devasted childhood and the sick emperor of Kutou, so u can't really blame him, he's just the product of his circumstances)

Now, my opinion of Yui 本郷 唯, I know I'm not the only one here with this POV, but I actually approve of her more than Miaka. I reckon she's a more realistic character, more 'down to earth'. I mean, how would you feel if you're best friend was absent for 3 months, and not only that, she says that she came back really for this guy from the book! Wouldn't anyone be P**sed?? And Yui is actually really loyal. When she finds her true beliefs she sticks to them, like when she realised who her friends were she stays on their side. I'd rather think she's stronger mentally than Miaka, Miaka is kinda whiny and depends on this and that, whereas Yui, at the Seiryu side, can't really be intimate with anyone, so she befriended hate I suppose, and that's why she was so against Miaka4Tama. I reckon she's not truely into Tamahome (she's better than that), just she always have to act like the older sister to Miaka, that the book just released the 'darker' side of her, and so she just wanted things her way for a while, for a change. Just some psychological stuff. Afterall, both girls wanted quit from their world, that's why the book has the ability to bring them into another world. So I think Yui is a much more realistic character and a lot more can be said about her. Miaka on the other hand, is way more fictional, for both romantic and comical reasons (What kind of girl do you know that eat's like a pig but stay gorgeous like a doll? Why do all the guys like her, even one that almost a woman?) But come to think of it, Miaka does have some good qualities...maybe when different people in different situations, produce different results....

Amiboshi 亢宿 and Suboshi角宿 are just AWESOME characters. They're not actually bad, they're just on the 'bad side'. Actually, although I'm against the OAVs, I absolutely adored the first 3 Omake sections.  Just PLAIN HILARIOUS. The first bit where they minipulated the twins' way of communication was just tearing my stomach! And there are other REALLY humourous parts, all of whom has seen the original series should definately see the Omake bit, just so funny.
Anyway, Amiboshi firstly did sabotage the Suzaku summoning ceremony <I suppose baddy Nakago made him>, but later when he resuced Miaka and helped her a few times, we learn that he's actually a sensitive, peace-wanting and a pretty nice and neat guy. I think his power's  fantastic <does both good and bad>. Totally amazing character! His younger twin brother, Suboshi, supposedly not exactly a peace-wanter and drugged his brother so he could be safe while he still can be with his beloved Yui, Suboshi is actually more whiny and unintelligently spontaneous. But he's really loyal to Yui and his brother (killed Seishi of his own side for the sake of Amiboshi) so that can be taken into account that he's not bad, just on the wrong side.

Soi 房宿, she's quite a neat character too. She's only bad becuase she loves Nakago (he saved her when she was a small child). She didn't kill Miaka and told her the truth about nothing happened to Miaka. I guess she doesn't do those evil things directly, just wants to make Nakago happy---even died for that dude who wants nothing but to rule the world!

Other baddies, Tomo, Miboshi and Ashitare are probably just pure evil, except Ashitare who ("it") was tortured to be Nakago's slave. But I hate Tomo and Miboshi's guts! They're just annoying, but they have their purpose, Tomo shows that Amiboshi is really a good guy and Miboshi really brings out the courage of Chiriko.

So yeah, all characters are important and have their purpose, whether they are on the 'good' or 'bad' side. Just like you and me. We have a purpose in our life, no matter where we stand. Think about that^^
