Review of Product: (All grades are on a scale of 1-100 with 1 being the lowest and 100 the highest)
Base Set Card Design:
(Above)
Front of Card: I absolutely love this base set design. This is the Best Base Set design of the Year (2001). Each Card is Die Cut with two flat edges an two die cut edges along the top of the card, each teams die cut is different. I can not say enough about the base set design. The Photo’s are nice and only has the player secluded on the card.
Back of Card: The blurb of information on the back is usually informative and interesting. The one downside to the card is the lack of stats on the back. Only career totals are listed.
Grade of Base Set Card Design: 98 GREAT BASE CARD!
Thick cards, made of Plastic not cardboard. Very unlikely to chip or flake. There is a chance or a likelihood of Print Runs probably two or three in a box. Still better quality than most sets.
Grade of Quality of Base Cards: 98 Only the print run is the issue.
There are 50 rookies in this set. Each base set rookie is numbered to 506!! Pretty Impressive that you would probably pull two per box! The Rookie Cards are just like the base set. NO complaints here!
I pulled: Freddie Mitchell and Koren Robinson. Both Listed Rookies.
There are 27 listed rookies, so odds are you should get one listed rookie and probably one non-listed rookie. The unlisted rookies book for $6 or $8 (seems kind of low to me).
Grade of Quality of Rookie Card Design and Quality: 98
Nothing To Complain About
Parallels and Inserts (Non-Game Used & Non Autos)
Like most Pacific brands this set has a load of Parallels.
Blue Parallel: Base #’d to 29 RC’s #’d to 19. I haven’t pulled any, but the parallels are similar to the base set with Blue on it. Numbering is on Back of Card.
Gold Parallel: Base #’d to 116. Pulled 3 of these including 2 rookies (Dan Morgan and Tuiasosopo). Numbering is on Back of Card.
Premiere Date: #’d to 86. Unlike the Blue and Gold, the Premiere date are #’d on the Front of the card in a gold box.
Inserts
Energy: 1:49, I did not pull any.
Rookie Reaction: 1:49 Decent card, a little thin, printed on card stock and not plastic. A little disappointing. I got Drew Brees, not bad!
Team Nucleus: 1:25 Insert card that contains three stars from the team. Has Potential for flaking or chipping. It is a nice insert, but nothing to write home about.
(I got the Titans: McNair, Eddie and Mason)
Statosphere: 1:25 Basically a pretty boring insert set. Potential for chipping. Card stock. I pulled McNair.
Core Players 1:25 Worst insert card in this set. Don’t Like it. Looks like a 94 Score card or something. Low Quality. I pulled Warner.
The Parallels are decent the inserts are adequate.
Grade of
Parallels and Inserts (Non-Game Used & Non-Autos) 75 (the parallels save
this grade)
Game Used and Auto Inserts
Well it doesn’t seem like it could get better, but it does. You should pull 6 (YES 6) Game Used Cards Per Pack. You should get four basic Game Used and two PATCH VARIATIONS. Essentially it goes like this.
Jerseys (4:25 Nice Cards on Cardstock. And here is a novel Idea, PUT INFORMATION ON THE CARD AND NOT “CONGRADULATIONS YOU HAVE JUST PULLED A GAME USED CARD.” Finally a company has put stats and interesting information on the Back. Leave it to this set to give it to you. I pulled Thomas Jones, Mark Brunell, Zach Thomas, and Laveranues Coles. The Thomas is a $20.00 and the other three are absolutely nothing to complain about. In these four cards alone it is $55.00. The Player Selection could be better, but with 100 players to choose from you are going to get some commons.
Patch Variation Jerseys (2:25). Basically the same as the Jerseys. With the word patch variation written above the patch. I pulled William Henderson (Seam – All white) and Keyshawn Johnson (3 Color – Black, Orange, and White). I was impressed with the Keyshawn which booked for $15.00. The two cards booked for $27.00. There are 100 game used patch variations, You will get some commons.
Overall there are $79.00 worth of Game Used in the one box. Much better than any other set I have ever busted a box on. (This is my third box of these).
Grade of
Game Used and Auto Inserts: 95 the only thing keeping this from 100 is the
large number of game used causing you to get some commons
OTHER FACTORS:
INSERT PLAYER SELECTION: 90 (Very Good – All stars)
ROOKIE PLAYER SELECTION: 90
# OF GAME USED/AUTOS IN A BOX: 95 (6 IN A BOX IS Great)
PRICE OF BOX: 90 (PRICE IS ALMOST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE)
VALUE OF CARDS RECEIVED: $320.90 RECEIVED AND $72.36
PAID IS A GREAT RATIO. THE BEST IS
PROBABLY 3.5 TO 1 WHICH WOULD RECEIVE A 100% GRADE. HERE WE HAVE A 4.4 TO 1 RATIO, results in a 100% grade. (The idea
here is if you get a 2 to 1 ratio and sold all the cards at 50% of book value
then you would break even). With this
set you would more than likely get back what you put into it. Giving it a 100 grade

Thus, this set in my book brings a A- into the class
room. Which I think is still too
low. If you buy one box you will be
happy especially if you get it for less than $70.00. Don’t buy it by the pack.
This set will probably remain in my top ten for years to come. I love this set and I have bought three
boxes and I am considering another one.
I think you will like it.
Here is what I pulled, with the best stuff on top:
