Mom & Dad
Your The Greatest
My twin brothers and I are very blessed. We have some of the most
wonderful parents you could ask for. Joan and Neal met in college in 1950.
Dad was attending Miami of Ohio through the GI Bill and Mom was going to
Western College for Women, which was right across the street. Dad is 7 years
older than Mom and when they first met for the next 5 years they were just
friends. Mom use to call Dad her big brother and Dad called her little
sister.
After Dad graduated they kept in touch through letters. The day Mom
graduated from college Dad showed up with Moms parents. Instead of being
happy or surprised Mom was mad because she had a date after graduation.
Needless to say Dad kept with it and finally Mom realized she didn't think of
him as a big brother anymore.
On June 27, 1958, Mom and Dad were married in Moms' hometown, Rochester
New York. They moved to Cincinnati, Ohio were they have lived ever since.
Don't get me wrong they by no means have had a fairy tale life but they know
the secret of getting thru bad times. STICK TOGETHER!!
When we were kids, we could never play one against the other. If one
said it, the other backed it up. Mom and Dad are not only lovers, man and
wife but also best friends. I think that is a big key to a lasting
relationship.
Dad now has Alzheimer's and it is very hard for Mom. He sometimes
forgets things that were very important to the two of them. I know it hurts
Mom but she just gently tries to remind him. It is sad for me to see both of
them going through this. When I get down, Mom reminds me how lucky we are to
still have Dad with us.
What Mom doesn't realize is that I feel I'm Very LUCKY TO HAVE BOTH MOM &
DAD!!!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MOM & DAD
Thanks for a GREAT life.
I LOVE YOU!!!
YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!!
