Painting Gold Leaves!

Let's paint some gold leaves without having to draw them!



Right click on this color palette and save as a picture. Place it in an easy to find place, then open it in Paint Shop Pro.

1. New image size 400x400


2. Flood fill with white.


3. New raster layer.


4.Use your tube tool and find the maple leaf tube, Then stamp one in the center of your image. (if you do not have the maple leaf, any leaf will do)

5.New raster layer.


6. Begin to apple color as you see in the image below. Stay in the leaf lines. and use your darker colors towards the edge of the leaf.

7. Paint some medium colors on

8. Fill in the rest of the leaf with color using a lot of different shades from the palette, be sure to use the light colors too, as shown above.


9. Now set the push brush to



10. Move the colors into one another so they mesh together in an uneven way. You are now using the push brush much like an artist uses a palette knife!

11.Use the smudge brush set at



12. Take short small strokes, and move the color edges together lightly till you like the looks of it, then stop!


13. Use the PUSH brush and set the size to 2 or 3, with all other settings the same as before. Start inside the leaf and push up to the top of the stem. Then go back and push the brush where the veins of the leaf should be.


14. Go to the layer palette and hide the layer with the leaf tube on it!


This is just a sample of what you can do with these colors!
