EASY CHRISTMAS TREE

tree

I have made a custom brush for this tree and also use it for many others things too.

Right click on the image below then "save as a picture" in an easy to find file. Open in PSP, and select with your magic wand.

tree shape

Activate your paint brush.

Now view your brush variance palette and set it this way.

To view this palette, go to VIEW, PALETTE, BRUSH VARIANCE.

Click on the brush tool bar, and at the top there is a small box with a drop down menu. (Right next to presets) open the drop down menu. Now on the right hand side, click on the box that says "create brush tip from selection" make sure the "save variance" box is checked.

1.Now that you have this brush saved, open a new image 500x500.

2. Draw out a triangle shape using the pre set shape tool.

3. Add a new raster layer.

4. Flood fill with a dark green.

5. Add another layer.

6. Set your foreground color to a different shade of dark green..... possibly a forest green, or whatever you like.

7. Set the background color to a medium shade of blue green, as is commonly seen with spruce trees.

8. Now begin painting your tree! Use a brush size of 35 to 45, or whatever you are comfortable with. Use a back and forth motion with the brush lifting it often.

9. You can create a whole forest of these trees by simply changing the size of your brush to suit your needs, and remembering that the lighter colored trees will be in the foreground, and darker ones to the background.

Add some ribbon or popcorn garlands, lights, ornaments and maybe even a package or two under the tree, and you have a lovely image!

Change the size of the brush and paint snow on the ground, and also paint a pretty sky using this brush. It is very versatile brush!
