The illustratio pictures are not the best, and I didn't make many...however, I don't think you'll need them that much.

Okay, here we go!

1. New image 500x500, transparent.

2. Add layer and flood fill with white. Name that layer "background".

3. Add new layer. name that layer "shoe".

4. Apply selection and flood fill with color of choice or pattern.

(for this tut, I used a dull red). You should use color of your choice.

5. New layer. Name that layer "heel".

7. paint in  the heel portion. (brown shade would be good )

5. Take paint brush and draw a line separating the heel from the body of the shoe.  Use black or very dark color.

9. Go to effects, texture, presets...wood grain. Set:

  • smoothness-30
  • depth-3
  • ambience-0
  • shininess-30
  • intensity-50
  • elevation-50
  • angle-250
  • color-medium brown. ( I used #984f1a)

  • Apply  to heel.

If you have Alien Skin Candy, their wood filter is much better for this.

    10. New layer. Name this one "black lines".

    11. set foreground color to black.

    12. Free hand tool, set at:

    • type- point to point
    • width- 4
    • line style- no. 1 solid
    • anti alias checked
    • create as vector checked

    13. Draw line under the wooden heel.

    14. Go to the layer palette and activate the layer for the " shoe" layer, then select it with magic wand.

    15. Now create new layer. Name it "sole".

    17. Use the paint brush, color black....... set size to 5 round, step 1.

    18. Now paint a line around the bottom of the shoe for the sole.(refer to image)

    19. Go to the layer palette, and click on the eyeglasses for the shoe layer and the background layer. In other words, hide those layers for now. Go to layers, and merge visible. Now what you should be able to see are the lines you drew, and the heel.

20.Go to effects, 3d.....inner bevel. set:

    • bevel- the second one, pillow shape.
    • smoothness-40
    • depth-2
    • ambience-0
    • shininess-10

    21. Go to the layers palette, and click off the eyeglasses.

    22. Activate the "shoe" layer with the magic wand.

    23. New layer, and make sure it is place right under the heel layer.

    24. Now is the time for you to take off on your own, or you can still follow along with me. For all intensive purposes, you have the basic shoe!

    25. If you are still with me, flood fill the selected area with gold gradient.

    26. I have a filter from Flaming Pear called Hue and Cry, and this is what I have applied.

    27. choose the retouch tool, and set to:

    • lightness down
    • left slash
    • size 23
    • hardness 35
    • opacity 50
    • step 25
    • density 50

    28. Choose a dingbat font you like, or maybe a tube, and place an ornament on the shoe. Then flowers  from a tube. look great in it!

    shoetut4

    29. I have cut out a couple of rose petals with the freehand selection tool, and placed them on their own layers, so I could move them around easily.

    30. place a new layer right above the background layer and paint With a large brush....... A very opaque black shadow for the shoe. Use the retouch tool, with a large brush , set on SMUDGE and go over the black lightly till satisfied.

    31. Merge the layers.

    32. Here's a very nice touch...... find an image with a lot of colors in it that compliment your shoe colors.

Resize it to the same size as the shoe image. Now copy and paste the new image onto the shoe.

    • : Choose the selection tool, feather 28, ellipse.
    • : Draw  an ellipse in the center of your image, then hit delete.

Now you have a nice looking matte for the image!

    33. Now frame it anyway you like! Resize it to your liking. You may want to crop it too.

    33. Here is the finished Victorian shoe.
