John served in Captain Lloyd Baal's Company, Col.John Stewart's 3rd.Maryland
regiment. His brother Richard served three years with George Washington during
which he was severely wounded. Both men were discharged Dec,1783 at Annapolis,
following the victorious battle at Yorktown with the English General Cornwallis
in which both men participated, (per Irma O. Spires Bales and the Rev.War Pension
files). Moved in 1794 to Westmoreland Co., PA,. Occupation: farmer. Pension:
April 17,1818,age 57yrs.military service $96.00 per year.
John married Mary Hinton on 24 Aug 1784. Mary was born 1765 in Montgomery Co., Maryland. She died 1855 in Pennsylvania.
