About The Knights
The Knights of Pythias was founded as a non-sectarian organization on February 19, 1864 in Washington, D.C. The principles of the Knights of Pythias are Friendship, Charity, and Benevolence. The members are pledged to practice these principles in their daily lives.
The Order is based upon the story of Damon and Pythias, historical characters of ancient folklore who displayed devoted friendship for each other. Therefore, this year's poster theme is especially appropriate to the Knights of Pythias.
Damon and Pythian showed exemplary courage (each being willing to sacrifice his life for his friend). There are times in the life of most high school students when it also takes courage to be a friend when it counts.
