The trail would be constructed in phases.

Phase One would consist of the area between the junction with the Ashland County South Bike Path passing thru Loudonville, until the end of Phase One at the Ashland-Holmes County Line. This would include construction of the Loudonville Station on Wally Road, a nature loop, historical markers for this phase, and the placement of Bridge #31). Phase 1-A would start from the end of the Ashland South Trail (north of Tannehill Road, at the West Loudonville Spur of the NS Railine.). It would then travel under Ohio 39 just north of Tannehill Road. At this point would also be a nature loop through the Mohican River floodplain. It would then cross Tannehill Road, and then continue to the LHS Stadium entrance. It would share Campus Dr, then Perry Ave, and Koch Dr. It would then turn left down Campus Dr through the LHS campus. It would then cross W Main Street in front of Parts Plus. It continues to Wally Road, where it then follows the road until this phases end where it connects to the Loudonville Pedestrian and Bike Path at the Wally Ballparks. The Loudonville Trail Station would be built here, near the city garage. The markers for this section would be at West Loudonville (village limits) and South Loudonville (the Trail Station).

Phase 1-B would start at the former midpoint entrance to old Wally Rd (South of the Water Dept). It would cross St Rte 3, and connect to old Wally Rd. (turning this stretch into a bike path). Then it would cross the Mohican River via Bridge #31. It would then turn into a bike lane and follow Wally Road to the Ashland/ Holmes County Line. There would be a marker at Bridge #31.

Phase Two would consist of the trails route between the Ashland-Holmes County line and the Holmes-Knox County line, essentially just an addition of a bike path to Wally Road. It would include the construction of a picnic area near the site of Spellacy, addition of a bike lane to the current Spellacy Bridge #30, and a marker at the Spellacy picnic-Bridge #30 area.

Phase Three would consist of the trails route between the Holmes-Knox County line and the small village of Greer. This would include construction of the Edlam Station in Greer, historical markers for this phase, and the placement of Bridges #29-#22).

Phase 3-A would start at the Knox-Holmes line. It would travel along Wally Road, until the roads turns away from the ROW at the entrance to Bridge #29. It would cross the Mohican River on Bridges #29, 28, and 27. After crossing, it would continue through farmland along the right of way. It would then cross the river again, on Bridge #26 and #25. After crossing, it would join the Gran Allee Trail, at the border of Mohican Wilderness, the phases's end. This phase would include the construction of Bridges #29-25, and markers for all Bridges, at the Uncas Station (on the Grand Allee Trail).

Phase 3-B would start at the south end of the Grand Allee Trail, and end in Greer, Ohio at the Edlam Station.

Phase 4 Would consist of the trails route from Greer, Ohio, to the Greer Rock Cut-Alum Rocks.

Phase 5 would consist of the trails route from the Greer Rock Cut-Alum Rocks to Brinkhaven, Ohio, the Trails Endpoint.
