Poem by Joyce Rogers
Our Rhythm, Our Dance,
Our Song
What kept insanity from settling in?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
What made the sisters as brave as the men?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
How could we stand, when they took our name?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
What kept us going, though engulfed in pain?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
What was used boldly in the face of slave masters?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
What performed beautifully in the midst of disasters?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
What kept us marching tho dogs gnashed at our feet?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
What upheld Martin as he refused defeat?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
What did God give so that our joy would not pass?
His Rhythm, His Dance, His Son.
What did we see through our broken glass?
His Rhythm, His Dance, His Son.
What had we left after our freedom was gone?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
What is held firmly in the hand of the Son?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
What can be found in no other race?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
What can praise God and leave an awe on His face?
Our Rhythm, Our Dance, Our Song.
