Episode Ten: Little Extras

Reward Challenge
The seven remaining Survivors met Chris and Adam on Challenge Beach and prepared for another grueling challenge, but they had no idea what surprised were in store for them with the reward. Adam stepped up and began to speak, “After last night’s Tribal Council, we could tell that this game is getting down to the bare essentials. Two Jurors are now seated on the Jury, and now the game is starting to get ruthless, but perhaps today’s challenge and its reward will help you along the way.”

“First, we’ll tell you about this challenge,” Chris said. “It’s a relay race across the beach. You will each leave at the same time, and will all have to stop at different stations along the beach. There are four all together. At the first station you will have to put together a wooden jigsaw puzzle of an ancient Indonesian idol. Once you’ve completed this, you may grab your flag at the station and move onto the next station. This station is located 200 feet out in the water. You must swim out to this station to the platform, then dive down 20 feet to unclip your flag. Once you’ve done this you may swim back to shore and run to the next station. This next station is a word jumble. It’s a crossword puzzle of the names of all those individuals who were voted out already in this game. Once you’ve found and circled all nine names of those who were previously voted out, you may grab your flag for that station and move onto the final station. At this station, there are seven boxes laid out across the beach and a different key for each nailed to a palm tree close by. You must go to each palm tree and find a key that fits your box. Once you opened this box, your last flag will be waiting inside. Once you get all four flags, come back to us and we will give you the reward.”

“And this reward may very well change the game” Adam said. “You have the opportunity to break open one of three coconuts. In once coconut there is a red flag. This flag means that at the next Tribal Council, you have the opportunity to null someone’s vote. In another coconut there is a yellow flag, this flag means that you have an extra vote at the next Tribal Council. In the last coconut there is an orange flag. This flag means that Tribal Council will be run a bit differently, and that you have the opportunity to nominate two different people (whom don’t have immunity) to be voted out and the members of your tribe may only vote for one of these two people to leave.” Upon hearing the rewards, the Survivor’s grew anxious to win. At the sound of the Host’s “go!” they darted for the first station.

The seven Survivors each, at an almost identical time, darted for the first station. At this first station, they had to piece together a small puzzle of an Indonesian idol. Kyle, Olivia and Asher took an early advantage at this puzzle and finished it within a few minutes while Cole, Babette, Emily and Mick had a little more difficulty. Next, Kyle, Asher and Olivia darted to the platform out in the ocean to accomplish their second task.

Olivia reached the platform first and dove under the water to unclip her flag, but she could not find the clip. Kyle reached the flag next and managed to unclip his flag. He swam for the shore and the next station, and as he did, he passed Cole and Emily who had just completed the first task.

Back at the first station, Babette completed the puzzle and ran out to the dock in hopes she could still win the challenge. Mick still remained at the tiki puzzle, screaming “I don’t get it!” He was obviously lost. Olivia, Emily, Asher and Cole caught up with Kyle as they fumbled with the next station, which was a crossword puzzle of the castaways previously voted out of the game. They all pondered at this station for over ten minutes.

Mick finally pieced the puzzle together and joined Babette at the dock as Kyle and Asher finished their crossword puzzle and raced for the last station. It was a neck in neck challenge between Kyle and Asher, both tasting the reward that could very well turn the game around for them.

Kyle and Asher reached the final station and searched among the palm trees for keys that led to their specific chest. They tried numerous keys, but many didn’t work. Babette and Mick finally caught up with the rest of the tribe at station three, but just as they arrived Cole and Olivia darted off to Station Four hoping to beat Kyle and Asher. Finally, simultaneously, Kyle and Asher found the correct key to their chest and both darted for the hosts to win the reward. It was a very close and unbelievable finish.

Kyle pulled ahead of Asher just near the end and managed to win the challenge and the reward. He picked up a coconut and smashed it on the ground. Inside was a yellow flag, which meant that he had the opportunity to get an extra vote at the next Tribal Council. Kyle was very pleased, but Asher and Cole were upset. They knew that one of them would most likely be going at the next Tribal Council. Cole knew it would be him.
