Episode Six: Strength and Honor

Day Sixteen:
Strategy Revealed

Babette in a confessional
After a nice peaceful night at camp, the new Bulan tribe (consisting of Mick, Asher, Madison, Cecely, Kyle and Babette) were beginning to get along and enjoy each other and their company. However, there was still a divide amongst them as far as tribal lines go. Kyle was constantly worried about who was voted out at Tribal Council the previous night, and was always looking out for a benefit to get him and Harriet further in the game. Asher and Madison were worried that Marco could have turned on Cole and Emily and voted with the other side to break up that alliance (as they are worried about Mick doing the same thing). Babette and Cecely are concerned that their alliance may be weakened because of this whole ordeal and the switch. Nonetheless, they all attempted to hide their feelings and have fun and try to make the best of it all. However, that didn’t mean that there was strategy going on around that camp.

Camera pans to Madison and Asher discussing the game. Asher pipes up and says, “That whole tribe seems to be very close, that could be a problem with us. We could end up having a tie at Tribal Council.”

“That is if Mick votes with us,” Madison told him.

“Mick’s a smart man. I doubt that he would vote like that, that’s sort of dumb. It’s like sticking your head in a beehive.”

“Just in case, we need to get somebody on that tribe to vote with us,” Madison told him.

“Well, the only person I could think of that would switch sides would be Kyle.”

“I think that Babette might,” Madison suggested.

“I doubt that, she seems like she has a strong tie with the other side, she seems like more of a follower. I think Kyle is worried for his own self being that if we promised him things, we could completely get him to come over to our side,” Asher said, laying out his strategy.

“Well, there’s one problem with that, and that’s the fact that we need to reveal something about his old tribe that really makes him mad or something. We need to dig up the dirt,” Madison said. “I’ll go talk with Cecely and Babette and maybe pry something out of them.”

Meanwhile, Babette and Cecely were talking to each other (likewise) about the other tribe. “They all seem very strong,” Cecely said, “and I know that it would be a tie. Who do you suppose you would like to vote out?”

“I really would like to see Asher go, because he seems very manipulative,” Babette said.

“I know what you mean, but I would like to see Madison go because she is a complete bitch,” Cecely said.

“She hasn’t been that bad to me,” Babette told Cecely.

“You just wait and see, she’ll get to be a complete bitch to you later on,” Cecely told her.

Being Down
Cole, in a confessional, says “Last night, we had a tie and had to have somebody get randomly booted, and unfortunately that person was Marco. That really put us at a big disadvantage because it’s me and Emily against the other three Matahari and I know that if we go to Tribal Council, I’ll be the next to go, because I haven’t exactly made good plans. The only thing I can think of that will save us is Ruben and I becoming friends. I even shutter at that, because he can get sort of annoying but I think he’s ruthless enough to do it.”

Emily and Cole discussed the whole situation, yet Cole did not tell her about his plan with Ruben because he said, “even if we do go to Tribal Council that plan will not benefit her because they’d boot her off instead of me.”

Cole went up to Ruben and they talked and had a few laughs and became really good friends. Thus, Cole felt that he did well in winning over his friendship and maybe saving himself until at least the merger.

Reward Challenge
After receiving their Tree Mail and going onto Challenge Beach, both tribes met up with the Hosts as Christopher began to talk. “As Bulan can see, at Tribal Council last night, Marco was voted out of the game.” The only person on Bulan who remotely cared was Mick, who actually seemed quite upset with what happened and that Marco didn’t take an opportunity to boot somebody like Cole or Emily. (In a confessional later that day, he said “I hate this game, and I hate the people just lying to all of us!”). “Now for the Reward Challenge. In front of you are two large platforms. These platforms are your structure and help to assemble the giant puzzle in order to win a reward. The puzzle pieces are fifteen yards to the north of the giant puzzle, and each person can only transfer one piece at a time. In the end, the tribe that gets the puzzle done the fastest will win the reward: an opportunity to raid the other tribe’s camp.”

At that, the two tribes competed against one another in attempt to get the giant puzzle pieced together. Bulan took an extremely early lead with a good strategy at having each person transfer a piece until they were all there at the base of the puzzle, while Matahari had Ruben and Cole stay to try to piece things together and the other three transfer pieces. Matahari had an extremely rough start doing the puzzle, because they didn’t seem to be as strongly motivated as Bulan was to continue their winning streak. In the end, Bulan’s motivation is probably what single handily won them the challenge and the opportunity to raid the opposing camp and steal everything they had earned.
