Episode Eight: Feuds And Romance

Day Twenty-Two:
Reviewing The Situation

Ruben in a confessional

On the grim and damp morning of the twenty-second day of the game, everybody had a different thought and each person had separate concerns about the game. Kyle woke up on that day and immediately began to cook breakfast for his tribe. After the shocking Tribal Council the night before in which he completely trusted the Bulan alliance to vote out Ruben, but was stabbed in the back when Harriet was booted, he figured it was best if he got on everybody’s good side. Soon after Kyle woke, Olivia and Babette rose and went bathing in the ocean. They were thinking that Kyle screwed them over and now, since they were at a disadvantage, they had absolutely no chance of winning the game.

Kyle finished cooking breakfast and managed to wake up the rest of his tribe as they all sat around the campfire eating their rice. There wasn’t any talk around the campfire that morning for everyone was somewhat unsettled on what they would do. Mick continued to plot out his strategy in this game. For a while, he went along with the Horsemen alliance to try to better his outcome in the game but perhaps it would be around the time where he teamed up with others to split that powerful alliance and find a way to get to the Finals. Emily, Madison, Asher and Cole were somewhat giddy that they had a major advantage in the game and they were happy that they could narrow the number of Matahari members down to zero. However, they questioned whether or not they could trust Mick and also whether or not they could trust Kyle. If both of them joined the other side, then their alliance could very well be split. Meanwhile, Ruben was trying to think of all sorts of different possibilities that could come from what has happened. He could tell that Bulan wasn’t completely with Kyle all the way from the last Tribal Council, and in return Kyle couldn’t trust them. He could also tell that Mick wasn’t part of the Horsemen and that he was looking for a way to split that alliance. In a confessional later in the day, he told the cameras “I think I might have a way to get Matahari back in this game. I could go over to Mick and ask him his feelings on the game and maybe even get him to consider voting and splitting the horsemen’s alliance. By simply voting with us in one Tribal Council, we could tie and maybe get further. Then I could go over to Kyle and try to get him back on our side. I know everyone’s angry at him for switching alliances but hey, this is Survivor, and we can hold grudges but we can’t act on them. We need him for a voting block, and I think I can lie to him to get him back into my good side. I think if this all plans out, I can get Olivia, Babette and myself to the Finals. On the other hand, if it doesn’t work out too much I think that I might go and talk to Cole and try to form some sort of alliance with him. Maybe him, me, Asher, Emily and Babette, because I know Madison’s starting to get on everyone’s nerves.”

Asher, talking about Kyle

Later in the day, Asher took Kyle aside and decided it was best if he explained what happened the night before. “Kyle, look. The thing is that we couldn’t trust her. She was completely set on voting with the other side and she was very sneaky. Methinks she was bad news,” Asher told Kyle.

“What?” Kyle screamed. This wasn’t the information he wanted to hear. “She was my best friend in this game, and you voted her out for that stupid reason? Ruben was set on the other side too, so is Babette and Olivia. They are the other side! Why would you just take my trust and step all over it like that?”

“Kyle, I know this seems bad but it’s for the best!” Asher exclaimed.

“You must have been lying to me this whole time. The only reason I joined with you to vote out Cecely was because you said you would get Harriet and I at least to the Final Five or even Final Four. And you go back on your word as soon as we merge?! You can screw yourself Asher.” Kyle stormed off. In a confessional later he told the cameras, “I feel so used. I came in here thinking I’d be the nice guy. The sweet one, but look at me now. I’ve screwed my tribe and myself over. This whole thing is so horrible; I don’t even know what to do. I want to go back to the Matahari alliance, but I know things won’t be the same. I just wish I never wrote down Cecely’s name on that piece of paper.”

Asher also had a confessional that day, but it wasn’t about strategy. He thought love was blooming. He said to the camera, “Kyle is wicked hot! Wow! I mean, I always knew he was extremely cute but when he was yelling at me and getting angry he was this mad, hot, steamy, guy that just turned me on! God, I’d want to get to the Final Two with him just so I can be around him more! Man, I really wish he was gay too, we could have a little island romance go on!”
