Episode Eight: Feuds And Romance

Reward Challenge
The tribe got the tree mail for the challenge and met the hosts on challenge beach. From sixteen people in the game, there were now only nine. These nine would form either the Jury or be part of the Final Two. The Hosts slowly made their way around the corner and lead the castaways to where the challenge would exactly be held on the beach. The castaways rounded the corner and saw, just ahead of them, nine hallow cylinders with a pile of coconuts next to each.

“The object of this challenge is to fill your cylinder up to the top with coconut milk. The person who does this the quickest will win a candlelight lobster dinner with their friend on a private yacht tonight.”

All of the castaways took their positions next to their coconuts and cylinders and on the sound of the Hosts, they began. Ruben and Mick took an early lead in this challenge and nearly filled their large cylinder to the top while the others seemed to only be halfway. By a fluke, when one of Ruben’s coconuts was completely dry, Mick won the reward on a sort of winning streak. He then got to choose a person to bring on the dinner with him and, carefully choosing he chose Kyle to help with strategy.

That night at dinner, he talked to Kyle about the game and told him what was going on. Mick said, “I’m sick of Cole, Emily, Asher and Madison. They have this alliance to get to the very end, as you probably know, and it’s going to pick us all off one by one.”

“Then why don’t you join the Matahari side. I know that they’re all not doing so well right now, so it would be a good thing to have you and me along with them,” Kyle said.

“Well, my idea is to form sort of an outcast alliance to get to the Finals. The Bulans have theirs and the old Matahari members have theirs. I mean, one with maybe you, me, Emily and Olivia.”

“What made you choose them?” Kyle asked.

“Well, I figure maybe we can split up Matahari just a bit more this next Tribal Council, then join that side to split up Bulan so everyone gets screwed up and unsure on what to do. Then you, me and two others that would stay true to us (Emily and Olivia) can go to the end.”

“That’s a good idea, I guess. I just don’t want to see another Matahari go,” Kyle told him.

“Well, maybe we can get rid of a Bulan this time around. We’ll see how things go.”

Day Twenty-Three
Mick’s The Word

Kyle in a confessional

The next morning, almost immediately, Ruben went up to Kyle and talked to him about the game. Kyle was pleased with what was happening because he wanted to be back in with the Matahari crowd again. Camera pans to the two as they talk, “Kyle, I know that things haven’t been going to well between you and me lately but we need to put that aside right now. I understand why you went ahead and voted out Cecely, but I need to tell you that there was no alliance to get you out.”

“What are you talking about, there was completely an alliance, I know about it!” Kyle said.

“No, I mean the alliances purpose wasn’t to get you out. You see, the thing is that we found out in the first few days that Tyler, Mark and Harriet made a promise to each other to keep each other safe and to stay true to one another. And that’s fine and hunky dory, but it excluded us and well, to tell the truth, we were a little concerned with it. So Olivia, Cecely, Babette and I made a pact and we were going to get you in on it but we already thought that you were a part of Mark and Tyler’s alliance because you were so close with Harriet.” The light bulb in Kyle’s head went on and he began to understand. “So, now that we’ve got everything squared out we need to get Matahari back in this game and I think that we can get Mick to board with us so we can win this thing.”

In a confessional later that day, Kyle reflected on what happened and said, “I’m not sure if he was lying about the whole Mark, Tyler, Harriet alliance and what they thought I was in on, but I sure am glad that they want me back on their side. I crossed forces to be with the evil, and frankly I didn’t like it.”

Ruben also said in a confessional, “Well, I think Kyle bought it. I knew that Mark and Tyler story would work on him. Truthfully, we didn’t want him in because we thought he was too flaky. I guess he proved his flakiness when he bought that story!”

While Ruben and Kyle were chatting, Olivia and Mick also decided to get down to business and figure stuff out. Olivia said to Mick: “Mick, I like you, we all do. Please join our voting block. It would be a smart thing to do because we’re all going to get pretty far in this game with you.”

“How do I know I won’t just be used as a pawn?” Mick asked.

“Because, my ideal Final Four would be you, me, Babette and Ruben. That gives you Final Four right there. I have to admit that I made an allegiance with Babette and I wouldn’t go around and write her name down to vote her out but I never said such a thing to Ruben and that could get you into the Final Three.”

“Well, I have been wanting to split up the Bulan alliance for a while now. I’ll have to think about it though. Who would you vote out?”

“Well, I noticed that you’ve been having a problem with Asher so maybe him,” Olivia told Mick.

Mick smiled at her as she walked off, but little did he know that Madison saw the two talking together. Madison ran up to him and said, “Did you jump ship?”

“Pardon?” Mick innocently asked. “That’s confidential information, Madison. I’m not that dumb to back stab Bulan anyway.”

“That’s good. It would be smart for you to stay with us too,” Madison declared.

“How so?” Mick asked.

“Well, for instance say you vote with us this time, then next time you can use the old Matahari to take apart our alliance and pick us off one by one,” Madison told him.

Mick was shocked at what she said. “Do you take me as a fool?” Mick asked. Madison looked at him sternly. “You’re going to go around trying to tell me what to do and how to play the game. I mean, what you told me right there could have given you a million counter alliances and ways to get even and back in the game. I may be voting with you, but it’s not because I’m stupid. I have my own strategy and when I’m ready it will come out and you’ll all see it.”

“Your strategy will be no good. The horsemen already have the game in the palms of their hands, so don’t even think you’ll win,” Madison said.

“You know what, you’re on thin ice you stupid bitch,” Mick screamed at her. “Why don’t you return to the hole you slithered out of.”

Mick walked off leaving Madison alone.
