Chapter Twenty-Five

JC and Laurie were cuddled together on her bed after showering together and drying off after JC’s impromptu swim.  They were relaxing and enjoying each other’s company when there was a knock on the door.

“How come this only seems to happen to us?” JC groaned and buried his face in her neck.

“I don’t know, but if its Lance, I will hurt him.”

JC just laughed and released her so she could answer the door.  Laurie looked through the peephole and sighed.

            “It’s Michelle.”

JC sighed.  “I’ll be in the bathroom, just try not to be too long.”

“I love you,” she said and watched as he partially closed the bathroom door behind him. “This has got to stop,” she murmured.  “I just want to be able to spend time with him without one of us having to hide in the bathroom when someone comes to the door.”

She opened the door and let Michelle in.

“Hey Laur,” she greeted and casually looked around the room.  “Are you all alone here?  I’m not interrupting anything, am I?”

“Umm no,” Laurie hesitated.  “I was just relaxing and watching TV.  How come you’re not spending time with Chris?”

Michelle rolled her eyes.  “How long ago did we arrive, two maybe three hours?”

“Yeah, that sounds about right… why?”

“Well, that’s about how long my wonderful boyfriend has been playing video games with Justin.” She frowned.  “I just don’t get it, I fly all this way to hang out with him and he does what he gets to do all the time.  So do you mind if I hang out with you for a while?”

***JC’s POV***

“Well, that’s about how long my wonderful boyfriend has been playing video games with Justin.” JC heard Michelle say.  “I just don’t get it, I fly all this way to hang out with him and he does what he gets to do all the time.  So do you mind if I hang out with you for a while?”

“No,” JC shook his head violently and silently answered for Laurie.  “No, go back to your own room.  I want to spend time with my woman.”

“Umm, sure.” He heard Laurie say and fought to keep from groaning out loud.

***Back in the Room***

“Umm, sure.” Laurie said with a furtive glance toward the bathroom.  JC was going to kill her.  “Actually, do you want to go downstairs and play a game of pool or something?  There’s not really anything to do up here.”

“Yeah, that sounds like it could be fun.  Joey might be down there with Denise and supposedly Lance has someone with him from back home.”

“Really?  I hadn’t heard that.  So are we going?”

“Yeah, I just have to pee first.”

Laurie’s eyes widened and she made a move to stop Michelle, but didn’t catch her in time.

***JC’s POV***

“Yeah, I just have to pee first.”

JC’s eyes widened and he quickly looked around for somewhere to hide.  The cupboards under the sink were too small and he didn’t have enough time to squeeze into them, even if he thought he was going to fit.  The only option left was the shower and he pulled the curtain closed just as Michelle entered the bathroom.

He closed his eyes and covered his ears when he heard her unzip her pants and sit down.  He didn’t want to start humming to block out the sound because he knew she would hear him.

The toilet flushed and JC breathed a silent sigh of relief when he heard the water running in the sink before she exited the bathroom.  He waited a while longer and heard the girls leave the room.

“Good grief,” he said as he stepped out of the shower onto the mat.  “My socks are soaking wet.  Never again,” he shook his head.  “Next time she can just catch us together, I don’t care.”

**********

Laurie and Michelle made their way downstairs.  Sure enough, Joey was down there with Denise and Lance was sitting in a booth with someone Michelle had seen only a few times before. Either at a party at Lance’s house when he was home and she was pretty sure the woman beside him was the one he took to the Angel Ball.  They made their way over to the table and sat down.

“Hey Laaaance,” Michelle grinned.  “How are you?”

“Pretty good,” he smiled.  “You remember Hannah, don’t you?”

“I do, I just didn’t remember her name at first.” She admitted sheepishly.

“Hannah, this is Laurie, she works at FuMan Skeeto with Chris and Michelle.”

“Nice to meet you,” Hannah said somewhat shyly.

“I’ll be back, I’m just going to go over and say hi to Denise.”  Michelle excused herself and slipped out from behind the table.

“So how come you’re not upstairs spending time with JC?” Lance asked boldly once Michelle was out of earshot.  He saw Laurie quickly glance at Hannah.  “It’s ok, she knows.  She won’t say anything.”

“Ok,” Laurie said warily.  “Well, we were spending time together and then there was a knock on my door, well I thought it was you, so I was ready to rip a strip out of you.  But it turned out to be Michelle.  Apparently Chris has done nothing except play video games with Justin since we arrived and she wasn’t very pleased about it.”

            “I guess not.”

“Anyway, JC retreated to the bathroom and I didn’t want him to be stuck in there, so I suggested we come down here.  Then Michelle decided she had to pee.”

Lance snickered.  “I can see where this is going.”

“Yeah…” Laurie couldn’t help but smile a little.  “So I have no idea how he reacted to that.”

“You’re about to find out,” Lance motioned behind Laurie.  She turned around to find that JC was standing behind her.

            “Umm… hi JC.” She blushed.

JC briefly rested his hands on her shoulders and sat down beside her.  He looked at her curiously.  “Hi.”  He leaned over and whispered in her ear, “I had to change my socks… they were kind of wet.”

            Laurie burst into laughter.

            “What’s so funny?” Lance asked.

“JC had to change his socks,” Laurie told him in between giggles.

“Ah yes,” Lance laughed.  “I did hear about your little adventure in the bathroom.  Did you enjoy it?”

“Shut up Lance,” JC growled and turned to Hannah.  “How are you?”

“I’m enjoying this conversation immensely.” She laughed.  “We don’t get this kind of drama back home.”

“Yeah well, we usually don’t have it around here either.” JC grumbled.  All he wanted to do was go back upstairs and spend some time alone with Laurie, without being interrupted.  Again.

“Well, I came down to hang out with Michelle, but I guess since Denise is here, I can go back up to my room.” Laurie hinted.  JC perked up… it was like she could read his mind.

“Yeah, and I want to get an early night,” JC faked a yawn, causing Lance to roll his eyes.

“You really expect us to believe that?  Just go and enjoy each other’s company.”

“Shut up Lance.” JC and Laurie said in unison, but left together.

“They’re so cute together,” Hannah sighed as she watched them leave.  “They belong together.”

“I can’t say I disagree,” Lance smiled.  “I’m really glad you made it out this weekend.  I’ve missed spending time with you.”

            “Me too.”

**********

Michelle was sitting in a chair and watching Joey and Denise play a heated game of pool.  Joey kept accusing Denise of cheating.

“I am not!” She told him hotly.  “You’re just mad because I’m better than you!”

“Michelle,” Joey turned to her.  “Help us settle this.”

“No way,” she raised her hands.  “This is between the two of you.”

“Fine, then I give up.” Joey replaced his cue stick and sat in the chair beside Michelle with his arms folded.

“Wanna pick up where he left off, Shelle?”  Denise asked.

            “Sure,” she shrugged.

Michelle walked over to the wall to choose a cue stick and saw Chris and Justin enter the room out of the corner of her eye.  She pretended not to see them as she walked back to the table and laughed at something Denise said.  She easily sank a few of the shots Joey had previously missed and felt Chris’ eyes on her with every shot she took and it was starting to unnerve her.

“Chris is here,” Denise whispered as she passed by Michelle to take a shot.

“I know,” she sighed.  “And I’m finding it really hard to stay mad at him.”

“Turnabout is fair play.” Denise stated and called her shot.  “Eight ball, side pocket.”

Michelle watched as the black ball moved easily over the green felt on the table.  Just as it sank into the side pocket, she felt a pair of arms slide around her waist and she instinctively knew it was Chris.  She felt his lips lightly touch her neck before he spoke.

“You’re ignoring me, aren’t you?” He whispered.

“N-No,” she stuttered.  Denise just smirked and walked over to where Joey was sitting.  Chris turned her so she was facing him.  He licked his finger and wiped a blue smear off of her cheek.

“Chalk dust,” he said quietly.  “Are you still mad at me?”

“Y-Yes.” She stuttered again and cursed herself.

“Liar,” he laughed.  “You always stutter when you lie.”

Chris moved so that Michelle was trapped between his body and the pool table and he lowered his head to kiss her.  She moved her head so that his lips caught her cheek.

            “What?” He asked.

“You know I can’t stay mad at you when you kiss me.” She whispered as she met his eyes.

“Shelle,” he grinned.  “That’s the whole point.”

She rolled her eyes.  “So are you going to kiss me or what?”

“Well,” his grin became wider.  “If you insist.”
