Chapter
16
“I’ve
come to give myself up”
The
words had barely left his mouth or he was surrounded by officers. One of them
stepped forward and cuffed him while another trained his gun on him so he
wouldn’t be able to escape. Justin let them restrain him. It was too late to go
back now and frankly he didn’t want to go back; this was the right decision and
although he was scared to death this really was the best option.
“Your
name sir?”
“Justin…
Justin Timberlake”
The
officer typed in the given name and the results were shown before him in a
matter of seconds.
“Take
him away” the officer told his colleague seeing the young man in front of them
was wanted for armed robbery.
The
officer nodded before tugging on Justin’s arm to indicate he should follow him.
Justin let himself be led, walking with the man blindly. He glanced back at
Josh who was standing at the entrance; this was it. It was real now. They
shared one encouraging smile and then he was gone. Josh dropped his head when
he could no longer see his love, the tears blinded him although he tried to
blink them away he was unsuccessful.
He
turned swiftly and ran out the door, the tears turned into sobs and he was
unable to stop them as he bolted for his car where he could cry in private, cry
for the loss of his love while he prayed the loss would only be temporarily.

“Will
the defendant please rise” the judge instructed as he reappeared in the
courtroom. Justin did as he was told; rising with his attorney. He shot a quick
glance over his shoulder to Josh who was sitting in the audience, being there
for mental support. He really appreciated Josh being there, he was terrified;
this was the moment of truth. It would be life changing, the longer the
sentence the less chance he had Josh would wait for him. At least that’s what
he figured, of course Josh had told him he would wait for him no matter what
but he knew it didn’t work that way. People grew apart and jail wasn’t really
the best place to work on and maintain a relationship.
“Seeing
the defendant gave himself up voluntarily and pleaded guilty right away and the
testimonies give you an advantage, Mr. Timberlake,” the judge started and
Justin nodded, liking where this was going so far.
“But…”
Always
a but, fuck, always… a but.
“Although
there are extenuating circumstances it is still armed robbery…” the judge
paused for a moment and Justin sent a quick prayer, please let the sentence be
limited. He closed his eyes as he waited for the judge to proceed which seemed
to last for hours but were in fact just several seconds.
“I
here by sentence you to two years in prison and one year probation. I think
that is only fair during the circumstances. Case closed” the judge finished, he
hit the desk once with his hammer, closing the case officially. The hall went
noisy with people discussing the verdict.
An
officer stepped towards Justin as he stood. He turned towards Josh, knowing
he’d lucked out but two years… two years was still a long time. Josh bend over
the wooden bar that separated them and took his hands in his,
“It
will be ok, I love you” he whispered before he was forced to let go as the
officer grasped Justin’s upper arm and pulled him away from the man that was
desperately holding onto the sentenced boy.
“Love
you too” Justin mouthed as the officer pulled his hands behind his back, cuffed
him and then led him out of the courtroom… to his new home… jail.
A/N: I don’t
know a lot about law and even less about American Law so if you’d get more for
armed robbery… well tough hehe. It’s just fiction and well I thought 2 years
would be a good idea :) Poor Justin ;)
