Chapter

Lord Alexander roared with laughter over his
friend’s encounters. He took a hardy drink from his goblet, a red mixture of
wine and fresh human blood, taken from Howard, his dear servant boy, now in a
deep sleep near the fire. “Kevin, I do not know how you have not been killed
yet!” Alex exclaimed. Kevin, his well traveled, old friend, just smirked and
admired their drink. “This is very good, blood, wine, and…what kind of spices?”
Kevin hinted. “Ah! Never! It is an ancient recipe!” Alex grinned. Kevin
returned the grin and took another sip of the tasty mixture. Alex studied
Kevin’s countenance. His flesh was rosy and pink, warm to the touch. He had a
satisfied look about him. Alex narrowed his deep brown eyes, boring into
Kevin’s flashing green ones. “You took that whore last night, did you not?”
Alex said. Kevin just smiled evilly and drained his cup. Alex laughed, “Not
even a night in town and you had to announce your presence!” “That and she was
with disease. I did her and your manor a favor,” Kevin said calmly.
Kevin leaned back in his chair, a fresh glass in
his hand. “And what, my friend, do you want with that peasant and his lovely
wife?” he asked archly. Alex poured himself more drink, his mood darkening. “I
want her,” he rasped. Kevin waited from him to go on. “She’s….my partner, my
love….”
----------
Centuries ago, when the isle of England was
battling back the Roman Empire’s advances, defending their land against a
hostile take over, Alexander was a young man, a Spanish noble, in love. His
betrothed was his life, he would have died to make her happy. She was the most
beautiful maid in the land, with long, dark, flowing hair, a dazzling smile,
and bewitching green eyes. Her English blood and his Spanish heritage were to
unite and with it, a stronger bond to fight off the Romans. Lydia felt the same
for him. There was no other for her. But a jealous demon destroyed their plans
and Alexander’s happiness forever……

Kevin saw the pain in Alexander’s eyes and let the
subject drop. To see one of their kind, in hurt and pain, was taboo. To them,
their mortal life was forgotten, buried under years of night and blood.
Remembering who they left behind, the lost loves….just wasn’t done. Clearly
Lynn was important to Alex in some way. Kevin knew her husband did not factor
into Alex’s plans. Poor bastard, Kevin mused, he has no idea that what
Alexander wants, Alexander gets and damn anyone in the way.

Brian inhaled her scent. So close…. He followed his
nose and found her with Lynn and Nickolas by the large fire. He stayed in the
shadows, listening to their conversation. They were discussing Sarah’s untimely
death. Brian knew how she died, knew it was the work of Kevin. He was forever
killing out in the open. Kevin would get himself found out and skinned alive
someday. Brian never liked him much. He moved about, mostly because of the way
he fed, violent and arousing suspicion. When Kevin came around, Alexander spent
all his time with him. Brian knew it was petty jealousy, but then Kevin would
leave and Alex would be all his again.
But Michelle was forming to be quite the distraction. Brian could still feel her clamped around him, her virgin blood on his tongue. Alex had warned him about feeding during the climax of sex. It could have some mental ramifications, depending on the strength of the person’s mind. But Michelle seemed to be strong. Brian now had a connection with her. He could be in her mind, form her dreams. He knew where she was and what she was doing at all times of the day. Her scent was stronger because of this new development. Brian wanted her again, to feel her silky walls….but he knew he had to bind his time. Michelle had confided in Lynn already. Now would be too soon. And Lynn would figure it all out…before Alex took her and before Brian could have Michelle.
