Right
For Me

Nick
Carter opened the glass door and stepped into the diner. He scanned the faces
and found the one he was looking for. He met his friend's eye and side stepped
a patron exiting the diner as he made his way to his buddy. Nick sat down,
picking up the sticky menu. "What's good, anything?" he asked.
"Eh,
the pie looks eatable," Justin Timberlake, replied.
The
two friends were on a cross country road trip, during their winter break from
college. Since they were poor frat boys, they weren't in a comfortable car.
They pooled their money and planned a nice trip by the bus. As luck would have
it, the bus broke down and the passengers stayed in the motel, right off the
expressway. For Justin, it was a night spent flipping channels. He couldn't
sleep. For one thing, he was in a strange bed. Lord only knows who or what had
been in those sheets before he got the room. For another thing, the gaudy,
blinking signs outside his window kept sleep from coming to him. The too thin
curtains didn't help him any.
Justin
sipped his coffee as he observed Nick. Nick looked rested. Satisfied even.
Justin put down the mug. "You got laid," he accused, with a smirk.
Nick
bent his head over the menu, hiding his grin. "Oh man!" Justin
laughed, smacking the table, "How do you do it, man?!"
"Well,
bro, I stick my..."
"No,
dude!" Justin said, putting his hand up to stop Nick from saying another
word, "How do you always get the chicks?"
"It's
not that hard, just smile and look deep into her eyes," Nick shrugged,
"Tell her what she wants to hear."
"I'm
not like you, Nick. I can't read girls the way you do," Justin confessed.
The
waitress found her way to them and they ordered a hot breakfast. She brought
Nick his coffee. Justin waited while he doctored the brew to his liking.
"So, who was it?" Justin inquired.
"Julie,"
Nick answered.
Justin
raised his eyebrows in a questioning look.
"One
of the girls from the bus," Nick replied to Justin's unspoken request,
"The one with the brown hair with blond chunks. The one with the
laugh."
"Oh!
She seemed like lots of fun," Justin said, wiggling his brows.
Nick
laughed. "She's more than fun. She's amazing." Justin could only
watch as Nick got the far away look in his blue eyes. Nick's mind left the
diner and returned to the room where the magic happened. Julie wasn't like
other girls he had hooked up with. She was the one to pin him down. She told
him she just went after what she wanted. It was refreshing to have the girl
take control. She rode him like there was no tomorrow. They went at it many
times and Nick came a record four times last night.
The
waitress returned with their orders. The smell of greasy bacon and slightly
burnt toast brought Nick back to the present. The guys gobbled their food,
conversation taking a backseat. When their immediate hunger was satisfied,
Justin ventured, "So, bro, details, man...."
Nick
laughed. "Well, Julie knocked on my door AFTER I had eaten half my garlic
pizza."
"Oh,
dawg, your breath had to be kickin'!" Justin crowed, sitting back in the
booth.
"I
was breathing fire like a dragon!" Nick agreed, "She waltzed into my
room, with ice cream though, so that took the edge off. I'll leave the rest to
your flithy imagination."
"Don't
want to spill the dirty details?" Justin asked, disappointed. It had been
awhile for him. He'd live through his friend if he had to.
Nick
shook his head. "Nah, this lady's special. She seems right for me, like we
were made for each other."
Justin
and Nick's eyes met and that unspoken thing that guys share when one falls in
love passed between them. Nick finally found his match and Justin was happy for
him. The moment passed and the diner door's bells rang, signaling a new
customer. Justin's eyes shifted and he smiled, tilting his head to the door.
"That her?"
Nick
turned around. Justin could see the grin. "Yeah and that's her friend,
too." He turned to Justin and wiggled his eyebrows in a meaningful
innuendo. Nick waved Julie and her friend over. Julie introduced her friend as
Kristy as she slid in next to Nick. Justin moved over to make room for Kristy,
his eyes glued to her.
The
four young people ate and talked until it was announced that the bus was ready
to depart. Everyone got their belongings and filed onto the vehicle. Nick and
Julie took a seat together as did Justin and Kristy.
Could
this be his one? Only time will tell. 'But she seems right for me,' Justin
thought, stretching his arm out across the seat, behind Kristy. She turned and
smiled at him. He smiled back, looking into her eyes. 'No, she is right for
me,' Justin corrected his thinking. Then without thinking, he bent down and
kissed her softly. Suddenly, the road trip got a lot more interesting.
The
End
Please
tell Kristy what you thought of
her story!
