Before playing the guitar, Ike played the keyboards.~ but he admits he could never really play the drums!

His early influences were 50's and 60's Rock n' Roll. People such as Chuck Berry and Otis Redding. In fact, on Hanson's new Christmas album "Snowed In" there is a cover of the song "Merry Christmas Baby" which was originally by Otis Redding.

His mother and father sang in a gospel group.
