Synopsis Artistes for Christian Theatre presents a brand new musical for the year 2002 which will challenge people who are searching in their faith, from all walks of life. It is going to astound you with our music, innovative sets and costumes.
Synopsis 17 year-old Jeanne D’Arc was uplifted from her simple life as a peasant to accomplish an extraordinary mission that only God could have possibly dreamt of. She responded to what she described as “the Voices” in a manner that came from a pure faith in and love of God. She was only armed with a reckless obedience to Him. This meant traveling across enemy territories to meet the uncrowned prince of France, convincing him of her holy mission, leading war veterans and ill disciplined soldiers in numerous battles, and being confronted with the bloodshed and cruelty of war. Through drama, music & songs, we see how an ordinary Joan reaches out to the audience across space & time to share her doubts, joys, anxieties, anger, loneliness, single-mindedness & intimate love for God. She showed us that her ordinariness and illiteracy were not handicaps in being an empowered lay-person. Her simple faith & common sense scandalized the learned religious & theologians. Her spirit-led leadership challenged the seasoned war veterans. In those uncertain times, all that mattered to her was that she listened to God. She lived her whole life for God. Even at the moment when the burning pyres claimed her life, she called out to Jesus. We share with you this challenge : Who do we live for? |
