I shivered, as the darkness fell around me. We were still tied up to the guard rails, but now it was turning to night. I was getting really cold, and I wish I could have kicked myself for not putting a sweater on over my tank top.
Now that I thought about things, I realized it was stupid to worry about all the little things in life. I mean, here I was with two dangerous men, who could possibly be murderers, stranded on a boat, in the middle of nowhere. Things were more important than worring how you look, or what people will think of you. The most impostant thing is life. My life could soon be taken away. What could I do about it? I was just a rag doll in the eyes of hijackers.
I sighed. "Lindsay, are you awake?"
"Yeah, how can I get to sleep?"
"I know what you mean. They could have at least untied us. I mean, its not like we're going to go plunging into the ocean in the middle of the night."
Lindsay laughed in a whisper. "They're not as smart as we'd think, huh?"
"I was thinking the same thing today, when they tied us up. But they are certainly not stupid. First, they escape from jail, then they knock out the people who run the boat, then they tie us up and send the captain and crewman out into the ocean!"
"Wow. When you put it that way, it does kinda sound like their smart.."
I laughed. "Kinda.."
"Do you think their a way to get out of these ropes?" I asked.
"I don't know...Too bad we didn't have a knife."
We looked at eachother. "Zac!" We shouted in unison.
"Shut up!" I heard Jack call from the panel room.
"Make me!" I said in a quiet whisper so he couldn't hear me.
"Zac, are you awake?" Lindsay asked.
"I heard him mumble something. "Zac!" I said louder.
"What?"
"Maybe if we try really hard, we can use your Army Knife to cut us free!"
"Yeah! But its in my pocket, and my hands are tied to the rail. How am I supposed to cut us free?"
"I don't know..." I said.
"You know, come to think of it, I havn't heard Isaac talk once." Lindsay stated.
"Me neither." I said.
"Same here..." Zac said. "Ike? Ike, buddy, why aren't you talking?"
No answer.
"Is he asleep?" Taylor asked.
"Nope, we'd hear him snore!" Zac said.
I giggled.
"Guys!" I harsh whisper came from far away.
"Isaac?" I asked. "Is that you?"
"Yes! Now, they didn't tie me up,because I was in the bathroom. I decided to stay behind until it turned dark .Now, Zac, I'm gonna get your Army Knife, and I'm going to try and cut you free. So stay still, and don't make a noise!" Isaac instructed.
"Okay," I promised, along with everyone else.
Isaac started with Zac, since it was his knife. Then he reached Taylor, and then me. It took a while, and by the time I was cut loose, it was light out again. I rubbed my wrists where the rope had been, and notices red burn marks forming.
"Great," I muttered.
The door to the passenger room flew open, and a sharp voice growled, "What do you think your doing? I tied you up! How did you get loose?"
"Isaac!" Lindsay said in a harsh whisper. "Hurry up! You only got one hand free!"
"I'm trying, Lindsay, I really am!" He said, working faster, with Lindsay frantically pawing at the rope with her free hand.
I ran over to Lindsay, and used my fingers to help. "Go, Lauren!" Lindsay said pleadingly. "Please! I don't want you to get hurt! Save youself!"
I looked at her, with wide eyes. "Are you sure?"
"Yes! Go!"
I ran past Jack, with a quick glance back at Lindsay, hoping she was free, but to my dismay, she was still tied up, and Bill was running tward her and Isaac at full speed.
