"Tell them I'll call back! What kind of lunitic calls so early in the
morning? I need my rest! Don't they know how early it is?" I asked groggily.
"Well, first of all, its 10:30 a.m., hardly early for you Lauren, and
second of all, I guess I'll have to tell Zac that your too lazy to get off
your butt to answer the phone!" Lindsay said, a taunt in her voice.
I sat up in my bed, and glared at Lindsay, who was already showered
and dressed. "Don't you dare!"
"Well, okay, but come get the phone, before I hang it up!"
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" I said, rubbing my eyes, trying to keep my
balance.
I somehow managed to stumble twards the phone, without falling down
with my weak legs. I didn't get much sleep last night. I cleared my throat
began talking. The conversation went like this:
"Hello?"
"Hi Lauren, this is Zac."
"Oh hey Zac! I had a great time last night. The movie was awesome!"
"Yeah, it was great! So umm, do you and Lauren wanna do something
today with us? All of us could go out, or we could just chill around the
house or whatever you two want to do,"
"Yeah, sure! We have a pool here. Do you guys want to come over here
instead, to swim?"
"Sounds great! What time should we come over?"
I stole a glance at the clock. "Um, how about 12:00?"
"Okay, Later Lauren," He said.
"Later Dude," I said, imitating a surfer.
I put the phone on the cradle, and jumped up and down. "Yes!" I said.
Mom walked by, passing my in the hall, watching me do so.
"Good news?" She asked, aparently amused.
"Definately. Oh mom, were touring in Sweden! I'm so excited! But of
course, Ill miss you and dad the whole time!" I added.
"Yeah, Lindsay told me last night, when you got home from the
movies. You were to tired and went straight to bed, so I heard it from her
first. Were all going to miss you and Lindsay!"
"Yeah right. I'm sure Kevin won't mind us gone. And all my friends
won't have an excuse to come over to see him anymore."
Mom laughed. He face turned serious, and she held out her arms. I
ran into them, and hugged her with all my strength, causing her to fall
backwards a bit. She smiled. Normally I would have been embaressed, but this
was different. I mean, I was going to be gone for at least a year.
She let me go, and I rushed to my room, not wanting mom to see the
tears that were forming on my eyelids, and rolling down my cheeks.
I walked into the bathroom, and splashed some cold water on my face.
I calmed down, and walked into my bedroom, picking out my outfit for that day.
I went downstairs, and poured my self some orange Juice. There was a
stack of pancakes on a plate. "Mom must have made them," I said, not
realizing I said it out loud.
"She did," Lindsay said from behind me.
I screamed, startled. "Lindsay! Never do that again!"
"Sorry.." She said, sheepishly.
I laughed.
"What?" she asked, staring at me, bewildered at my sudden laughter.
"Oh, nothing," I said, catching a glimpse of the clock.
"Ahhhhhh! Its 11:45! Ike, Tay, and Zac will be here any minute!
Their coming over at twelve to swim!"
"What?" Lindsay cried. "Why did I not hear about this?"
"Because your always the last one to know. Youi never listen
anyways, Linds. Come on! We have to get ready!"
"Okay, I'm coming!"
I ran up to my room, taking the steps two at a time. I chose a
purple bikini, with white peace signs scattered on it.
"Laur, you have my red and white bikini, right?" Lindsay called from
her room.
"Yeah, why? Do you want to wear it?" I asked.
"No, I'm going to prance around in my underwear. Sure Lauren!" She
said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. She walked into my room, and sat on
my bed, looking at me.
"I'm sure Taylor wouldn't mind..." I teased.
"Shut up!" She said, and ran out of the room as soon as I gave the
the swim suit. I threw a towel at her, but she closed the door to fast, and
it missed, but i could hear her giggling on the other side of the door. In
spite of myself I laughed too.
I grabbed the towel, which landed on my desk (Bad aim!) and headed
out to the pool deck. I grabbed a lawn chair, set it by the pool, put my
sunglasses on, and layed down. I could hear voices around me, which meant
the guys were finally here.
I was about to get up, when I felt myself being lifted. The next
thing I knew, I landed in the pool with a splash.
I came up sputtering for air, looking around to see who could have
thrown me into the pool.
I saw Zac smiling at me, with an evil glint in his eye. "Why,
Lauren, you're all wet!" He teased, laughing.
"Well, the least you could do is help me up," I said in the sweetest
voice I could muster.
Lindsay and I exchanged glances, knowing what I was going to do. Lindsay
had to cover her mouth to keep from giggling.
"Okay," Zac agreed. "Its the least I can do."
He reached his hand over the pool, and I grabbed it, giving it a
hard tug, which send him flying into the pool.
I burst into a fit of laughter, along with Lindsay, Isaac, and Taylor.
Zac surfaced, shaking his hair wildly, splashing wated all over me.
I laughed and splashed back.
Lindsay was still laughing. Infact she was laughing so hard that she
lost her balance. She grabbed the closest thing to her, which happened to be
Taylor. They both toppeled into the pool. I tried to avoid getting splashed,
but I was unsuccessful.
Isaac dove in off the diving board, only making a small ripple in
the water.
"Wow Ike, great dive!" Lindsay said.
"Thanks," Isaac said, flashing a smile.
I fel something tugging at my ankle, pulling my under. I rose to the
surface staring into soft baby blue eyes.
"Taylor! Why you...." I said, dunking him under water.
He came up, looked at me, and laughed. I stuck my tounge out and
giggled.
I relaxed and floated on my back, sighing contentedly. Could things
get ANY better?
