In the van, I could hear Lindsay telling Zac, Taylor and Isaac about the
fight I had with Jessica. My cheeks flushed, and I wanted to ring her neck.
That was the main reason I wasn't talking, because the subject was about me.
So I started thinking. What would it be like, performing in front of so many
people? Would I get nervous? Would people think I was a no-talent?
We arrived at the Jameson Marina on time. "Wow!" Taylor said. "This place
is beautiful!" He was right. The lake was huge, and there was a huge number
of boats, docked at the shore, getting ready to sail. There was a bar-b-que
and I could smell hot dogs, and hamburgers. People were serving pop, and
there were balloons floating around everywhere.
"I've never seen this place look so good!" Lindsay exclaimed. "I wonder
what the occasion is.."
"Hello, you must be the musical group, Hanson!" A man said, running up to
us, looking us up and down.
"Umm...Yes we are." Isaac said, uncertainly.
"Great, great!" The man replied, leading us over to all the excitement. "Do
you know what all this is for?"
"No, we were just wondering why this place was so crowded." Zac said.
"Well, surprise, surprise! This is all for you, and the new members in the
band!"
My jaw dropped. "Are you serious? But why?"
"Well, were so proud to have people that live in Jameson in such a," he
paused to look at the three brothers "famous band. Everyone here is here to
see you off to Sweden."
"You're kidding!" Lindsay said incredulously.
"Nope. Never been more serious in my life!"
"Wow...I could get used to this!" I said.
Suddenly, a fire caught onto one of the grills, and the man ran off,
muttering something under his breath.
"OK..." I said. "Besides all this attention, this trip will be the greatest!"
"You bet!" Zac said. "Sun, fun and sand! What could be better? I'm gonna
try surfing!" Zac held up a blue and Yellow boogie board, threw it at the
ground, hopped on it, and pretended
to ride the waves. I laughed.
"Sounds awesome Zac. Maybe I'll try it with you! It looks like fun!"
"Yeah, Lauren. You come with me. Then I won't be alone." Zac said, looking
pointedly at Taylor.
"Is that the 'Island Dreamer'?" Lindsay asked, pointing to a petite boat.
It was a really cute boat, a bit small, but big enough for seven people.
"Must be," Isaac said. "It has a banner saying 'WELCOME ABOARD, HANSON!' so
I'd assume it's for us."
"Well, lets go look. We mine as well go on board now." Zac said.
"Okay." We all said in unison, as we headed down the wooden gangway to the
boat.
"Hey, what time is it, anyways?" Isaac asked.
Lindsay checked her watch. "It's still only a couple minutes after eight."
Shading here eyes, she saw Mr and Mrs Hanson on the shore, talking to the
man who had come over to us before. "But we should be sailing soon."
"The engines are on." I said. "I can feel them vibrating underneath me. I
can't wait to get on to the water! This will be an awesome trip!"
"I hope we have time for a swim sometime, because it's getting hot
already!" Taylor said.
At that minute, the pilot house door opened,a dn a man stuck his head out.
"Hey you!" He called to Zac. "Cast us off, okay?"
"Sure." Zac moved to the bow of the boat, and undid the rope there.
"We should be going soon, then." Lindsay said, smiling.
As we walked down the side of the boat, the deck gave a little shudder. I
could feel myself getting excited all over again. "Were going sailing! We
really are, Lindsay!"
"Lauren, calm down. I know you've always wanted to sail, but this is to much!"
"Aw, shut up!" I said, playfully. "Don't ruin my mood!" I looked over the
side of the boat, and realized we were moving away from the dock.
"Zac! Your parent's aren't on yet!" I called to him.
"Oh no!" Zac said frantically. He repeated what I told him to his brothers.
They ran to where Lindsay and I were standing, and started calling to them.
"Mom! Mom! Dad!"
Their parents looked up, and a look of panic crossed their faces. "Stop the
boat!" They yelled, running to shore. "Please! Stop the boat!"
It was too late. The boat was leaving with out them, and there was nothing
we could do about it.
I sighed. "Why would they just leave like that? Did they not want your
parents on the boat?" I asked.
"I was wondering the same thing myself." Zac said, his face still full of
worry.
"Come on, let's all go to the pilot house, and ask, okay?" Lindsday said.
Everyone nodded. We walked over to the pilot house, and knocked on the door.
"What do you want?" A voice on the other side growled.
"Um, well the boat left the shore before my parents could get on!" Zac
yelled loud, so the man could hear him.
"Hey, kids! Don't worry about it!You'll be fun. We, um, we contacted your
parents. Their on another boat. They'll meet us there, okay?"
"Yeah, okay." Isaac said, as we walked away from the pilot house.
We glanced at eachother, confused. "Do you think he was telling the truth?"
Lindsay asked.
"Yeah," I said, shakily. "Yeah, they'll come to meet us. They'll be there
when we get there!" I was more confident now.
"Well, if were going to be here for a while, we mine as well have fun!"
Taylor said, pulling out a portable CD player, several bags of chips, and
cans of soda.
"Hey, great! But first I have to go to the bathroom!" Lindsay said
sheepishly, walking into the passenger room.
I sat down on the bench, ready to relax, but I soon jumped up at a
horrifying sound. "Oh no! Lauren, Isaac, Taylor, Zac! Come here, now!"
Followed by a sharp horrified scream.
"Lindsay!" I shouted......
