Chance of a Lifetime Chapter 4

When I got to the buses, Donna had the van there waiting for me to unload my stuff.
"Hey," she said, "did you meet the guys?"
"Yeah, I did they are really cool, and funny, especially Brian. To be honest I was a little scared that they wouldn't be as nice as they seemed. You know with the tendancy towards big-head syndrome and all."
"Well I am glad to hear that, their families do alot to keep them grounded. Anyway, grab your bags and I'll show you your bunk. You'll be on bus #2 with Denise McLean, Jane Carter, and some of the other crew. As we walked on to the bus which was very nice, she pointed to one of the bottom bunks.
"There's your home-sweet-home, at least for the next three months anyway. You can put your clothes in the drawers under the bed."
"Looks good to me, do I have time to unpack?"
"Sure, jsut make sure you're at the concert, but you knew that. Oh, and I almost forgot," she said fumbling in her pocket, and throwing me something. "Here is your All Access pass, keep it around your neck at all times during set-up, the show, and tear-down. And be very careful, people will offer you major money for these things, you know what to do."
"Thanks," I said, slipping it aroudn my neck.
I guess I must have looked a little nervous, because she said, "Don't worry you'll be fine, just keep your eyes and ears open and jump in wherever you can to help. And most importantly, have fun, that's what this business is all about."
When she left the bus I spent the next 45 minutes unpacking my stuff and tacking up my pictures of friends and family. I then headed over to the stage to see my first BSB concert. that was one of the most memorable nights of my life. During the concert I was standing over on the side of the stage and during the first part of the concert all of the guys smiled and waved at me. It was my job, when they came off stage for a wardrobe change, to hand them water bottles and towels.
As they came running off the stage and I was handing them their towels, Brian said to me, "Hey come to our dressing room after the show if you want, I think we're gonna hit Pleasure Island or something since this is our last night here in Disney World."
"Sounds cool, I'll see what Donna says, though."
"Great, see ya then," he yelled running towards the dressing room.
During the second half of the show, I went to find Donna. I found her in the green room, watching the concert on the TV monitor. I popped into the room and told her what Brian had said.
"I was wondering what my hours were and if hanging with the guys is okay?"
"Well you don't really have any set hours, except for the 24/7 that we all work!" she said with a laugh. "Seriously though, you're basically free when we are traveling, your only real work comes when we're setting up the concerts and tearing them down. Hanging with the guys is okay as long as you don't slack on your work, which I'm sure you won't. Since tonight is your first night you can go ahead and keep them company."
"Great! Thanks, just keep me informed on any other jobs you might want me to do."
"I will, now go and have a good time while you still can."
I gave the guys and extra 20 minutes after the show to get showered and changed, then I went and knocked on the door. Kevin opened it up and I saw Howie in front of the mirror fixing his hair, and the other guys were playing pool. A.J. was clearly winning. They all looked up as I came in.
"Come on in," Kevin said.
"Hey, glad you could make it," Brian said. "How'd you like the concert?"
"It was really great, youguys are really talented."
"Well, thank you," said A.J. with a smile, "so where we going tonight?"
Nick suggested one of the clubs on Pleasure Island, and we all agreed.
"Let's take the limo over since it's right here," said Howie, "better tell our shadows where we're going."
The guys grabbed their windbreakers and we headed for the limo. The chauffer opened the door and A.J. helped me in.
"Wow," I said looking around, "I've never been in a limo before."
The guys all climbed in after me with Kevin, Howie, and Nick across from me and Brian and A.J. right next to me. I leaned back against the seat.
"Yep," I said, jokingly, "I could get used to this."
"Well,"said A.J., looking at me, "a girl as pretty as you deserves it."
I was too stunned to even do anything but blush. All the other guys were too busy talking to notice.
"Thank you," I stammered, looking at him.
I didn't say much for the rest of the trip which only laste 10 minutes anyway. The limo pulled up to the entrance of Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney. We all walked up to the ticket counter and before I could even say anything A.J. had already bought my ticket.
"Hey, how much do I owe you?"
"No problem we'll even up later."
"So have you ever been here before, Nicole?" Nick asked.
"Yeah, I was hear last year a few months before I graduated. I wasn't old enough to go to the clubs by myself though."
"You've never been to a club before then?"
"Oh, I went to a couple of clubs last time I was in Europe, just not here."
"That's cool," he said, turning to the other guys. "Are we ready to go in?"
"Yep, were good to go," said Brian, in a funky voice.
Nick and A.J. were standing on either side of me while we were waiting.
"Milady?" they both said at the said at the same time, offering me their arms.
"Why thank you gentlemen," I said laughing, taking their arms, and we headed up to one of the many clubs. The other three were walking ahead of us, and stopped while we caught up.
"It's about time slow-pokes," said Brian, with a smile. "Are you doing okay there Nicole? Those two can be pretty scary at times."
"Doing great at the moment, Brian, thanks. I'll let you know though if I need help!"
"Well are we going in or what?" asked Howie, impatiently but with a smile.
The music playing at this particular club was just the normal '90s dance stuff. I was kind of nervous because I didn't consider myself the best dancer and I knew that these guys could move. Kevin and Howie headed off immidiately towards a group of older looking girls, while Brian, A.J., Nick, and I sat down at a booth in the corner. right as we sat down Brian saw someone he thought he knew and excused himself. Nick asked over the music, "So what's the best practical joke you've ever done?"
"Well, I won't give away all my secrets, but there was one time I was at summer camp and a really good friend had this aweful alarm clock. I mean this thing was bad! It was Japanese cat clock and when it went off it screached at you in Japanese until you hit the button. Well, we thought it would be really funny to set it for 2:30am and then tape it under the open window of the guy's cabin. It was so hysterically funny, we watched from across the street as it went off. That thing went off for 10 minutes before they figured out what it was, where it was, and how to shut it off. We laughed our butts off. So what was your best one?"
"Oh, I'm not sure, I wouldn't want to give away any trade secret before I get you with them," he said with an evil grin.
"Oh, I see how you are!" I said rolling my eyes.
All of a sudden A.J. said, "So, do you wanna dance?"
"Sure, but I'm not very good, are you gonna be okay by yourself, Nick?" I said with a wink.
"I'll be fine thanks, I am gonna go get something to drink," he said giving me a shove out of the booth.
"Let's go then," A.J. said grabbing my hand.
I don't remember what the song was only that it was FAST! I did my best but he was just putting me to shame.
"I told you I wasn't very good," I yelled into his ear.
"You're doing fine just let yourself go!"
Luckily, a slow song came on. I wasn't sure if he still wanted to dance but he pulled me close to him, making chills run up and down my spine.
"You have the most gorgeous eyes!" He said looking deeply into them.
"Thank you!" I said really embarrassed. "You sure havea talent for making me blush."
"Yeah, that's what all the girls tell me!"
I playfully punched his arm and then layed my head on his shoulder.

Meanwhile...

Over at the table the other guys had come back together to leave.
"Wow," Kevin said, with a look at the dance floor, "looks like A.J. and Nicole are hitting it off pretty well!"
Howie replied, "I'm happy for him, Nicole seems really sweet and A.J. had never had much luck with relationships."
"Well, only time will tell,' Kevin said back.
After the song ended, I pulled back and mentioned that the other guys might want to go since it was getting so late. So we walked back over to the table.
"Hey guys," I said, "Ready to go?"
"Just waiting on you two lovebirds," Brina said with a wink.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," muttered A.J., "Let's go."
We all trooped outside with bodyguards in tow. As we walked back to the car, A.J. and I walked a little behind the others.
"I had a lot of fun dancing with you tonight, you are very, very sweet!" he said taking my hand.
"I had a lot of fun too. You have complimented me more times tonight than any other guy has ever complimented me in my lifetime."
"Yeah, right!"
"I'm serious back home and even in college guys have never really been interested in me. I couldn't tell you why. I just have a bad aura or somthing," I said with a laugh.
"You've got to be kidding me, are all the guys were you live blind?"
"Who knows?"
By the time we had reached the limo, all the other guys were inso we climbed and headed for the buses. Usually, we would stay in a hotel, but we had to travel all night in order to make the next show. When we got to the buses we all got out, the guys headed for their bus, and I went to mine. Before we all seperated though, I gave A.J. a quick kiss onthe cheek and whispered thank you in his here while giving him a hug.
Nick saw me do that and said in a pretend hurt voice, "So what are we? Chopped liver?"
I just laughed and gave each of them a hug goodnight.
"See, ya'll in the morning or afternoon, or whatever!"
