Chapter Eighteen
As soon as Whitney saw Emily, they ran to eachother squealing.
"You have to tell me everything." Over Emily's shoulder, Adam came strolling up.
"Yeah. How did it go?" He promised he'd ask Whitney and report back to Taylor. But with Adam there, well, any guy in general, Whitney had to tone it down.
"Good. It went good. We went to a little outside Italian cafe and had dessert, then walked through the park. He told me about his band and music, and then I got a little sample, since I'm so out of it." She smiled innocently. "What did you do last night, Adam?"
"Oh, nothing much. Hung out with a friend, played video games."
"Sounds nice. Hey. There's Roger. I think he needed to talk to you," Whitney lied.
"Really? Okay." Finally he left Emily and Whitney alone. She took Emily's hands in hers.
"It was unbelieveable. We made wishes by the fountain in the park, and then he kissed me. It was so romantic. He was a great kisser. We started walking back to the car and he kissed me again. Amazing. It was the best night. And then we were driving home, and he sang for me. He has the best voice." She was all dreamy just thinking about it. The bell rang, rudely inturrupting her thoughts.
"Did you mention me, double dating, Taylor?"
"Yeah, I mentioned you a couple times, and asked if Taylor would want to met you. Isaac said our next date was going to be about me since we talked about him and the music this time. The third date hopefully. He said he'd get back to me."
"As long as you keep mentioning me, I'll be happy. But try to get that date!!" Whitney nodded, and they parted ways.
Through the day and into her classes, she was dreamy. The world was a blur, and Whitney was out of it. Several of her teachers had to call her attention, which was unusual for her, and they knew it.
"Whitney!" Ann-Marie called.
"Oh! Sorry." She pushed the button to start the song. Time passed slower than usual, and she was anxious to get to her tutoring. She was actually looking forward to that. A couple hours ahead, a week ago, Whitney was dreading the next session.
Class ended, and Diana was waiting in the lobby.
"Hi Diana!" Whitney greeted. She smiled in return.
"I take it you had a good time last night? I know Isaac did."
"Did he?" They got into her van without Whitney saying good bye to anyone.
"He didn't say much, but that he was looking forward to the next one. I'm sure Tay and Zac got more information than I did." Whitney laughed. Of course they would. Tonight should be very eventful.
Carrying her bag into the house, she set up in the room. Loading Avery's song to the pause button, Taylor slipped into the room, closing the door behind him.
"Whitney." She turned around, suprised. She hadn't heard him come in.
"What's up? Your class isn't for another two hours."
"I know, but before everything got all crazy and I didn't have a chance, I wanted to talk to you for a second."
"Sure. Are you having second thoughts about the dance? It's going to be fun, I promise. And I remembered that I have to do one of my dances today too."
"Yeah, I'm looking forward to that. But what I wanted to ask you was, if you wanted to hang out sometime. Like go to Cold Stone or something. For a while, when you get a chance. Maybe tomorrow after dinner or something."
"Like a date?" She smiled.
"Kind of, not really. Like friends."
"Okay, sure. Sounds like fun. Tomorrow afternoon, anytime after four. How about four thirty?" Taylor grinned.
"Great. See you in a while." He slipped back out again, just as quietly as he came in. Whitney couldn't believe it. She was going out with two brothers. But Taylor's wasn't really a date, just friends hanging out, she reminded herself, just like he said. This was definietly an eventful night already, and she hadn't even been here for half an hour. A minute later Avery came in, ready. They sat down and stretched, then worked some more on 'Rockin' Robin'. She was smiling and out of breath when they were done.
"Great job Avie. You're doing super. I'll see you next week?"
"Yeah!" She gave Whitney a hug before running to the door. Right on schedule, Jessie came in as Avie was leaving. After switching discs, they stretched on the floor.
"Have you been practicing?"
"Yes. I come in every day. I even have a copy of our song."
"That's a great idea. Then you can show me?"
"Yeah."
"Let's get to it then." Whitney cued up the music, and watched her dance. Even the new part from yesterday looked flawless.
"Perfect. You don't need me." Whitney joked.
"Let's do it again together anyway. Do you know the next part?"
"I do."
"Then lets do that too. Start it, anyway."
"All right." Suddenly time seemed to fly too fast. Ten minutes until her hour was done. Whitney had to stay calm, and seperate business from pleasure.
"Time's up." Isaac called from the doorway. How long had they been watching? Nerves started taking over.
"All right Jess, I'll see you next Monday for sure. Great job on the practicing. Keep it up."
"Thanks. See you Monday." She left, and the boys entered.
