Chapter Nineteen

The security guard recognized us and let us in, giving us directions to where we can find the d.j.'s room. We knocked on the door and heard them shout, "They're here!" They opened the door, and had us sit in five chairs set up around the micropone. Then our first official interview began.
"So. Good morning ladies."
"Morning." We chorused.
"Let me start out- introduce yourselves."
"Hi, I'm Mallory."
"Hello, I'm Monica."
"Hi, I'm Megan."
"Hi, I'm Brittney."
"Hey, I'm April."
"Who came up with the name and how'd you get it?"
"Well, it was April's idea." Mallory explained. "We were going to try and use the first letters of our first names, but that didn't work. So then April thought about using the first letters of our last names."
"Those letters are H, O, J, J, and A." I told them. "They wern't in that order at first, but I rearranged them into Hojja, and everybody agreed to it."
"Alright. This new single of yours- what inspired you to write about this?" Monica took this one.
"I just got out of a heavy relationship and we got together to decide our first song, and I threw out that idea, and finally we decided to sing about that."
"That leads us to the next question. You girls are all very beautiful. Do any of you have steady boyfriends? They'd be very lucky guys."
"None of up have steady boyfriends." Brittney answered.
"Heard that guys? They're all available. We have time for two last questions, then we'll take some questions from callers for a few minutes. We'll return after this song." He pressed a button, playing Cumba Wumba. We watched as the phone lines light up with callers.
"I'm so excited!" Brittney said. The d.j. and his people answered the phones, putting everyone on hold. The song ended after what seemed like an eternity.
"We're back, and if you're just tuning in now, we're in the middle of a one on one interview live with the hot new all girl group Hojja. So girls. You're first single 'No Love's Left' came out yesterday. Is it going good?"
"We hope so. From the reaction in our schools, it's going to do good." Megan replied. "We haven't found out yet how many we've sold so far, but we hope it does good these couple of days so we can find out if we should make an album or another single." Then I spoke up.
"Tomorrow morning we're going to start making our video for 'No Love's Left'."
"Oh really." The d.j. said.
"Yeah."
"Okay, ready for a fast question and answer session?"
"Yes." We all answered.
"Caller number one, go ahead."
"Ah, hi girls. Which one of you is which on the covers of your single?"
"I'm the one in the short brown velvet shirt, brown hair and jeans- I'm Brittney."
"This is Megan, and I'm wearing a yellow t-shirt and blue jeans."
"I'm Monica, and I'm the one with the purple skin-tight dress."
"It's Mallory in the white shirt, jean vest and blue jeans."
"I'm April and I'm wearing the black jumpre dress."
"Okay, thanks. Dave and Mike were right. You guys are pretty."
"Thank you." We all said. Dave is the d.j. we're with now. Mike was the d.j. that played our song first last night. "Bye."
"Next caller."
"Hi. This is Josh. I was wondering where your first performance is, if you're doing one."
"Yeah. We have one tonight at the Coffee House Cafe at seven." Mallory answered.
"What songs will you sing?"
"We don't know. Not yet anyway." She added.
"Thanks."
"Bye." We called.
"Next caller."
"Hi. I'm Joe and I was wondering if ou want to do commercials or movies sometime."
"Well, if we get offers to do some, we'll consider them." Mallory answered.
"As for individual commercials or movie jobs, we'll think about those too." I added.
"Then can my dad get your numbers? He's a movie producer."
"We're not allowed to give out our personal numbers, but we can give you the number of our manager." I told him.
"Okay."
"I'll pick up on a different line and give it to you. Hold on." Mallory said. She left the studio and went into the lobby and talked to Joe.
"Alright. That was our last question, and that's all we have for today. Maybe they'll come back soon. Good bye girls."
"Bye people!" We shouted.
"Don't forget to come see us tonight at the Coffee House Cafe at seven!" Monica said loudly. They played our song as we left the studio to our waiting car. There were a couple of people that stopped to watch us, but then we left.
"I thought there'd be at least a couple of people waiting for autographs." Brittney said disappiontedly.
"Nobody knows us yet." I said, trying to reassure her. "Not yet."
