"Pen, isn't that the guy you have the pic of on your Myspace?"
"Hm?" Penelope came back to reality, from stairing at the spinning disco ball, refracting the dancing blue, yellow and green lights to lean in and look at her best friend, Lizelle.
"That guy walking up to the bar. Isn't he the guy from your Myspace, the pic in the background?" Lizelle pointed discreetly across the room. Penelope looked left and searched the crowd with her grass green eyes, decorated with purple eyeshadow and black liner. As her eyes locked on the guy, a slow smile spread on her full glossy pink lips, showing perfect white teeth. "Sure looks like him. Not that I sit and stair at your layout all day." Lizelle rolled her blue eyes. "Now I bet you're super glad you came."
As Penelope watched the guy squeeze through the crowd and up to the bar and flag down the bartender, she pulled the compact out of her black clutch and checked her make up. Closing her compact, she turned to her friend. "Of course I'm glad I came, this is just a bonus." She stood up and excused herself, making the rest of the girls have to slide out of the half circle booth to let Penelope out. She had flown in from LA to Tulsa, to attend Lizelle's bachelorette party, and then wedding. They had been friends since elementary school, and now, almost fifteen years later, Lizelle was the first one to be getting married. Penelope was fine with that, since she was focusing on her career as an actress. She was hoping to get just a glimpse of her celebrity crush, but finding him at the bar in the same club was the best scenereo for her. What was he doing here? She thought to herself. She knew that he didn't frequent the club scene very often. As she slowly made her way across the room, one of her favorite songs began playing through her head. She gave a sly smile, and gained confidence. She was a cat on the prowl now.
I saw him from a distance and I watch him make his way to the bar.
He walked up to me slowly whisperes then he says I know who you are.
I wanna get to know you.
I can tell he was a playa, but he knows just how to make you loose control.
Somehow I knew.
Shawty is a killa
But I really want him
And I gotta have him
Tonight
Straight hearbreaker
But it really don't matter
'Cause I really want him
Tonight.
She was approached a couple times by hopeful guys, but she just shook her head slightly and continued on her mission. She ran her hands down over her short velvet strapless, curve hugging black dress, then over her curly dirty blond hair with high and low lights. With the lights flashing and music pumping, she barely noticed the crowd stepping aside. She stopped next to him, on his left side, laying her manicured hands on the edge of the bar, making sure her diamond tennis bracelet was in sight. When she saw him glance over at her out of the corner of her eye, she tossed her hair gently to reveal matching earrings. With the song still going through her head, she smiled as the bartender approached her.
"What can I get you?" Penelope angeled her head slightly, toward the guy on her right, and shifted her weight so her body barely brushed him.
"I'll have a sour apple pucker please." The handsome bartender gave her a brilliant smile.
"Right away." And he did his best to show off all the tricks he knew, but Penelope didn't pay attention. She turned slightly to the guy next to her. She didn't want to say his name, because she didn't want to seem like she already knew him. She figured that'd be weird for him, even as often as that happened.
"Hey," she said to him, keeping it simple. She smiled at him when he turned to her. The instant he looked into her eyes, her breath stopped, and she could swear her heart stopped.
"Hey." He returned, leaning his elbow on ht bar. She didn't notice when her drink was set in front of her. He tossed his head, shaking his bangs from his blue eyes and gave her a slow smile.
"I'm Penelope," she told him, hoping to get a conversation, or a dance, out of him, at least. She knew her name had to bring some kind of response.
"Penelope, huh?" His eyes roamed over her face, studying. She wanted to launch into the whole 'Penny and Me' thing, but she didn't want to overwhelm him.
"Yeah, but I go by Penny, or Pen even." She smiled sweetly, and lowered her lashes. "How about you?" When he thought she wouldn't notice, he let his eyes wander down over her small curvy body under the tight black dress. His eyes came back up to rest on her chest, which was displayed deliciously. He had to stop himself from reaching for them. He licked his lips, then brought his eyes back up to hers. The next verse of the song went through her head.
The way he licks his lips, I'm in an infatuated state of mind.
He's so hard to resist
I gotta tell you baby boy you're so fine
Just gotta have you
I could tell he was a playa
But he knows just how to make you lose controll
If you only knew
That shawty is a killa
"I'm Jordan, but I go by Taylor, or Tay even." He smiled. He reached for his drink and tipped it back. Penelope reached for hers and held it.
"Nice to meet you."
"You too-" He paused as her chest vibrated. He laughed quietly as she pulled the tiny phone out of her dress from between her breasts. He wished he could be the phone as she checked it, then read the message. Two seconds later, the phone was disappearing into her dress again.
"I'm sorry. I have to keep in touch with them." She threw a thumb over her shoulder. "Bachelorette party." He narrowed his eyes at her. "But not mine. My best friend Lizette. I flew in from LA yesterday for her wedding." She smiled. "Are you here to dance and get drunk too?" She downed her drink as emphasis, then smiled.
"Maybe not drunk, but to have a few and hang out. It's guys night out for me." He tilted his head in the general direction of his table.
"Awesome! Oh! I have to-" she layed a hand on his arm so he wouldn't go anywhere as she turned around to her friends. They were all getting up as the song started. She nodded, then turned back to Taylor, not moving her hand. "I have to go dance with them on this one, Lana specially requested our song-" she said with a little pout. He wondered what it would be like to catch her lower lip between his teeth. Wait- what? How could he be thinking like this? Then he heard himself say, "I'll find you." before he could stop it. But the expression on her face was worth it. Her eyes grew big and a huge smile lit up her face at his response as the first line of the song came pouring through the speakers. She saw her friends gathering down on the floor.
"Great!" And she leaned in and gave him a brush of her lips over his. She paused, looking into his eyes a breath away, hoping she was leaving him wanting more, or at least thinking about what could be. When she was sure she had his full attention, she walked away with a little swager of hips and joined her friends on the floor to the requested 'Hot Stuff' by Craig David. Taylor watched her walk away, not caring who saw him stare at her.
"That's a nice piece right there." The bartender said. "Good luck with that."
"Thanks man." Taylor said, but his voice sounded distant to him. As the lyrics to the song floated through to him, he saw her stop next to a bunch of attractive girls, laugh, then start to move on the edge of the circle they had created around the single girl wearing tight jeans and a white wife beater with the word "bride" written in silver gemstones. The lyrics began to sink in, he thought, what an appropriate song.
Lets dance
Get on the floor no need to hold back
Sexy thong mini skirt stilettos on
Shaking all that
What you doin to me girl I can't hold back
Some hot stuff is all that I need
So while we're waiting lets dance
Hit the floor show me what you're working
Sequins on your skirt accentuate all your curves and
Girl you know I'm liking
All the things you're doing
Specially when them other girls be checking out your moves and
Girl I want in
The way you're turnin me on I can't even begin
You're so hot that you come straight out of the kitchen
When you dip it down low cause we're tripping
'Cause them other guys be lookin' at you
'Cause you're so damn fine
Really blows my mind
But it's all about you so what we gonna do
As the chorus started again, he watched her turn around so he could see her face. She locked eyes with him as she moved to the beat, her hands seductively roaming her body. She ran her tongue over her upper lip and watched his jaw drop slightly. When the second verse came, she turned around again, knowing his eyes were still on her.
