Chapter Ten
Six a.m. my alarm shrilly scares me out of a dream I was having about me and Anthony. I was glad it woke me up because that dream was going bad. I jumped out of bed and ran into my bathroom, took a shower, got dressed into a floral pair of shorts that looked like a skirt, and a loose silk tee-shirt. I French braided the top half of my hair and left the braid hanging down and put a white binder at the end. I put on white shoes, grabbed a shoulder bag and put my purse, brush and make-up repair kit in and headed next door. Seven o'clock sharp I knocked on the door. I heard a stampede of feet rushing towards the door. All of a sudden, silence. A few seconds later, a boy about my age opened the door.
"Hi. I'm Love."
"Hi. I'm Taylor. Tay." He stood in the doorway, stairing at me.
"Let her in!" Someone shouted from behind the door.
"Oh. Sorry. Come in." He moved out of my way to let me in. I stepped inside and Mackie instantly ran up to me with his arms open wide.
"Pick me up Love!" He demanded. I bent down and picked him up. I looked at the family. Diana had the baby and she was closest to me on my left.
"Hi Diana." I greeted.
"Hi Love. I'll introuduce you to the rest of the family. This is Zoe." She bounced the baby and she gurgled happily. "Next to me is my husband, Walker."
"Hi." I said.
"Hi Love." He smiled warmly.
"Next is Avery and Jessica."
"Yes, I remember them. Hi Avery, hi Jessica."
"Hi Love." The answered togeather.
"Then it's Zac. You haven't met him before, that I know of."
"No, we haven't met. Hi Zac." I flashed him my perfect smile.
"Then it's Taylor."
"Hi Taylor." I gave him my best smile. So he was the one that had the birthday yesterday. And he was also the one that answered the door.
"Hi Love," He said softly.
"Next it's Isaac."
"Hi Isaac." I flashed him a smile too.
"Hi Love."
"Well, now that you've met everyone, Walker, Jess, Ave, Mackie and I are going shopping. It's ben a while since we've been able to go on an outing like this since Zoe and the boys' tours." I raised my eyebrows.
"Lets go people!" Diana ushered her family into the garage, then walked over to me. I set Mackie down and took Zoe while Mack attached himself to his mom's leg.
"Shopping!" He shouted. He let go of his mom and raced out to the car.
"We'll be back around two or three, if that's okay. The boys will drift in and out. Give Zoe a bottle now and again at noon. Or if she cries and it's not anything else. She'll start to fall asleep if she's tired. Then you can lay her down in her crib. One of the boys can show you to her room. You can help yourself to anything you want."
"Come on Diana." Walker called.
"We'll be back. Bye and thanks for sitting."
"Bye!" I called after her. The garage door closed and they were gone. I looked at the three brothers, then at Zoe. "She's so cute!" I looked around and located a rocking chair. I went over and began to sit down, but jumped right up again, remembering about Zoe's bottle. I quick looked at the silent boys. They were watching my every move. Once I was sure they couldn't see my face, I smiled. I rummaged through the cupboards, looking for a bottle. I looked into the fridge. Ah ha! Found one. As soon as the bottle was ready, I walked back out to the rocker and sat down with Zoe. I fed her her bottle, and when she finished it, I burped her, then set her back down. About five minutes later, she was asleep. "Can one of you guys show me where her room is? She's asleep." They snapped out of their trance and said, "This way" all at the same time. They headed toward the stairs, then one of them- I don't know which one he was- came over and gave me a hand getting out of the chair.
"You're...Taylor... right?"
"Yeah. That's me, but you can call me Tay."
"Okay, Tay." I smiled and gave him my hand. He pulled me up and led me to the stairs, never letting go of my hand. The other two were both waiting by the door of their sister's room. The littelest one opened the door. "Thanks." I walked into the room and over to the crib.
