Chapter Twenty
Tay's dreams were pretty bad. He dreamed that he and Love were in a very serious relationship. When they left on a tour, they never returned. The next thing he knew, he was looking down on her, singing 'With You In Your Dreams'.
********************
Noon the next day, I slowly woke up from a dream about meeting up with Anthony. I got out of bed, took a shower, and got dressed. I left my hair down, and wore my new leggings and a blue-jean baby tee that tied in front, showing three inches of my stomach. I went downstairs and found a trunk tucked away in the office that had some of my old stuff in it. I rummaged through the junk and found some coloring books and crayons. I put them in a bag, put on my shoes and watch, then went next door. At two, I knocked on the door. Mackie answered it.
"Hi Mackie!"
"Love! You're here!"
"Of course. I wouldn't want to miss an afternoon with Mackie!" He raised his arms to be picked up. I rested him on my left hip. "Hi Diana!" I called as she swept by, collecting her girls.
"Hi Love!" She called from the garage. "We should be back between three thirty and four. You don't have to make dinner. I'll see you later! Thanks for coming! Bye!" She left with the girls, so I looked at Mackie.
"What do you want to do Mackie?"
"Candyland!"
"Where are your brothers?"
"Sleeping." He made a snoring sound. I laughed.
"You'll have to be quiet then, okay Mackie?"
"Kay!" I put him down.
"Go find Candyland and set it up while I find us a snack." He ran for the same trunk that the Monopoly had come out of. I set my bag by the door and went to find something to eat. I found some chocolate chip cookies, so I put a few on a plate and warmed them up in the microwave. I poured Mackie and I a glass of milk. I went to put the milk away, and when I turned around, Zac was standing in the entryway of the kitchen in boxers, still half asleep.
"Mornig Zac!" I said cheerfully. I looked at him and smiled. When his eyes got used to the light and had gotten over the fact that I was already there, he looked down at his outfit. His eyes grew wide, his mouth hung open, and his face turned bright red.
"Go put some clothes on Zac. I'll have a bowl, spoon, milk and cereal ready when you come back."
"I'll be right back." He dashed up the stairs. I laughed to myself as I brought out the cookies and milk for Mackie and I. Mackie dove right into the cookies. Zac came down fully dressed and covered, went into the kitchen, fixed his breakfast, then came and sat next to Mackie and I. When we finished the game, I pulled out the coloring book and crayons. Zac joined in by drawing cartoons for me. When he gave me a really funny one, I laughed so hard I almost cried. Tay came down the stairs dressed and ready.
"Hi Tay. Did I wake you up?" I asked, trying to sound serious.
"No, no. You didn't wake me up." He looked at me closely, and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Zac's drawing cartoons for me." Tay looked at Zac suspiciously, and Zac grinned.
"Tay, breakfast stuff is on the counter in the kitchen."
"Thanks Love." All of a sudden, yesterday came crashing back to me. Maybe that's why Tay looks kind of tense. Just then, Isaac came down the stairs.
"Moring Isaac." I said.
"Hi Love. It's past two already?"
"Yeah. It's about two thirty now. You guys sleep late. Tay's in the kitchen having breakfast."
"Kay." Isaac went into the kitchen. As soon as they left, Zac continued to draw me more cartoons and Mackie colored.
