Chapter Twenty Nine
"Good evening Mr. and Mrs. McCoy. Hello Love. And you are..."
"Taylor Hanson."
"Good evening Taylor Hanson." The boss greeted us at the door.
"Hello Mr. Robertson." My dad shook his hand.
"I'm glad you could make it tonight. My son and his date Anna are here somewhere." He scanned the crowd. "Obviously he's not near by. Anyway, have a good time, enjoy yourselves. We'll dance, have dinner at about six thirty, then, we'll have the contest results. It was nice meeting you Taylor Hanson. Oh- by the way. They did tell you about our little festivities of the evening, didn't they?" He asked Taylor.
"Yes they did."
"That's good. Now if you don't mind, I have to get back to my job of greeting." We went over to the coat room and hung them up.
"You know where you'll be sitting, right Love?"
"Yes dad."
"Okay. Meet us there for dinner. Have fun and behave." My parents turned and left us in the coat room.
"What do you want to do first Taylor Hanson?" I immitated Mr. Robertson.
"Lets go dance."
"Fine by me." We wandered over to the dance floor. On the way, we bumped into Mr. Robertson'd kid.
"Hi Love, you look beautiful as usual."
"Meet my date Taylor Hanson. Tay, meet the boss's son Corey." Corey's eyes grew huge.
"Taylor Hanson." He whispered.
"Hi Corey."
"Hi Taylor. I know this'll probably sound stupid now, but can I have your autograph?"
"Sure. Have something?"
"I'll find one. Hold on." He searched his pockets and finally found a pen and paper. Taylor signed his name, and wrote a little note on it.
"There." He gave the piece back to Corey.
"Thank you so much."
"Where's your date Corey?"
"She's around here somewhere."
"Where did you find the lucky lady?" I asked him bitterly.
"We're friends."
"You?! Have friends?!"
"Yes, I do." I was getting him mad. He was trying to keep control over his temper. We began a glairing contest. A song started.
"Come on Love, lets go dance." Tay pulled me away from Corey's glare.
"What made you hate eachother so much?" Tay asked as he pulled me into his arms for a slow dance. I rested my head on his shoulder.
"He embarrassed me."
"How?"
"He...Well...We..What happened was that last year, we had a dancing contest. Somebody suggested that we enter the contest togeather instead of with our original dates. So we were dancing to a slow song and he dropped me. Right in front of everyboddy. Then at dinner, he spilled his drink in my lap and it stained. I had to stay at the party with stained clothes that I had paid over two hundred dollars for. And he called me a slut in front of everybody when we were accepting the award for 'originally best dressed couple', until he spilt his drink on me."
"Wait. Hold on. Why did he call you a slut?"
"He called me a slut because I was socializing with more boys than he wanted me to. Our parents are staying out of it."
"Ow."
"Uh-hu. I've hated him ever since."
"I can see why." The slow song ended and a fast one came on. Tay spun me around and we began having fun. A couple songs later, we agreed to get something to drink. Ten minutes till dinner. We sat down in our spots at the dinner table and talked while the caterers set the table and brought out the food for the first course.
