Chapter Thirty Four

We got in and I turned on the car, heat and radio.
"So Tay. Did you have fun?"
"Yeah. It was an interesting way to spend the evening."
"I agree." A good song came on the radio, so I turned it up. After the song, I turned it back down. "So what was Corey's side of the story?"
"He said that last year, you had a really hot date for the party, and like, the day before he had to cancel. Is he right so far?"
"Yeah, keep going."
"So, since your date cancelled and he didn't have anyone to go with, they hooked you two up together. Right?"
"Uh-hu."
"And when you guys got to the party, you left him the moment you walked in the door. He said that you danced with everyone else except him. The only award you won last year was the best dressed because you were never together to participate in the kissing contest."
"Yeah."
"Then comes the interesting part. He told me that when it came time for awards, he couldn't find you. When he did, he found you and a boy...how'd he put it...oh. I remember. In his words, he said that when he found you, he cought you an inch away from kissing and making out. Then he went into more graphic details, but we both know what you were letting him do." I blushed a bright pink, thankfull that it was dark out. Tay grinned, remembering the mental picture Corey hadd painted for him. "Anyways, you agreed to stay with him the rest of the time if he didn't tell your parents about what he saw."
"Yeah. It was pure torture."
"What part?" I smacked him on the arm.
"Taylor! The staying with Corey part."
"Why? Was it torture that you couldn't go back to the room with the boy and continue what you were doing?"
"Stop teasing me Tay! No. The part where I had to be seen with Corey. Ick! Gives me goose bumps when I think about it."
"Yeah right."
"Come on! Stop or I'm leaving."
"Did he give you goose bumps?"
"Who?
"The boy. I want details."
"No. I'm leaving." I opened the door and got out. I went back in to get my parents. "Mom! Hurry up! Some people have to get home by ten."
"Taylor! Oh no! Ian! Ian! We have to go drop Taylor off! I completely forgot!" They went to the coatroom, got their coats and followed me out to the car. Taylor got out of the car and let me in, and sat down beside me. We started for home.
"I'm sorry. I get a little carried away. I mean, living with Ike and Zac for brothers, it kind of spreads." Taylor wispered in my ear.
"That's okay. It is an interesting topic though, don't you think?"
"Especially when you have an older brother talking about it non stop."
"You have it rough, don't you Tay."
"Yeah." We pulled into our driveway.
"I'll walk you home."
"Okay."
"Mom? I'll be right back. I'm gonna walk Taylor home."
"Fine." They went inside.
"Wanna go to our treehouse?"
"Sure." We went to the treehouse in their back yard.
"We built it ourselves. Ike, Zac and I."
"Really?"
"Yeah. It's so cool." We climb up the tree and sit in a couple of lawn chairs.
"This is nice."
"We love it in here."
"I can see why. It's beautiful in here."
"I'm glad you like it." I took off my shoes.
"Much better." I take out the clip from my hair and a couple of pins. A few strands fall. I put my clips in my shoes. I looked at Tay. "What?" He had a kinda sad look on his face.
"Your curls. They're falling out and coming uncurled." He said disappointedly.
"I'm gonna wash it when I get home. Why are you so sad?"
"They're cute. The curls." He pointed to my head. I took out the rest of my hairclips and dropped them into my shoes. A few more strands fall. I start taking out the rubber band. When I got it out, my hair tumbled down to my shoulders. It was really curly. I lifted my hands up to pull on the curls, but Tay grabbed my hand. "Leave it."
"Why?"
"It's pretty."
"Okay, whatever." I sat back in my chair, and looked out the window. "Wow. Look at the stars. There's millions of them. Well, it's late and this hairspray is driving me nuts. I'll see you tomorrow, maybe." I got up, grabbed my shoes and climbed down the tree. Taylor came over and looked down at me.
"Yeah. Maybe. Goodbye, Love."
"Bye Taylor." I went home and took a shower first thing, then went to bed.

Taylor walked into his dark house. Everybody was in bed. Tay got out of his tux, took a shower and crawled slowly and quietly into bed. Just as he began to drift off to sleep, somebody called to him.
"Tay. You awake?"
"I was. What Ike?"
"So, how'd it go?"
"It went fine. Go to sleep Ike. Some people are tired around here. And we're gonna wake up Zac."
"Promise to tell me about it in the morning?"
"Uh-hu." He mumbled into his pillow, then fell asleep.
