Chapter Thirty Eight
"Get away! Let me go." I began to cry.
"Don't cry Love. I hate it when girls cry."
"Well, then let me go. You're scaring me Andy."
"Don't be scared."
"Why not? You're practically raping me." I yelled. His hold tightened even more. He brought one hand to hold my face while he kissed me. I used my free hand to push him away. I ran out of my room, down the stairs and into the dining room. I was trying to get outside, but Andy cought up with me. He pushed me down and sat on top of me, pinning me to the floor, with my arms painfully under his knees. Now that his arms were free, he ran his hands up my sweater. Icouldn't see thorugh my tears. I shook my head to try and clear my eyes. That was only about half effective. "Zorena!" I saw her out of the corner of my yey, but she thought this was a game. He brought his hands down to undo my jeans. "Andy, Andy, please. Stop. Get off me." He continued what he was doing, blocking out my pleas.
"Love! We're back!" Andy rolled off m e, hiding in the kitchen. He pulled me behind the wall, shook me a ocuple of times, pulled down my sweater, wiped my eyes and pushed me out in front of my parents. "Hi Love." My mom studied my face. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." I said shakilly and pulled Andy next to me. "Mom, meet Andy. We met in the park today. He stopped by for a minute on his way home, so I'll escort him to the door." I smiled weakly and dragged andy to the door. Outside, I made sure I closed the door. "Andy," I growled "I never want to see you again. If you ever come near me again, I'm telling everybody about what you did to me. I'm sure I have bruises to prove it, and I won't ever speak to you again. Now get out of my face." I turned and went inside and locked the door.
"He was cute Love. I hope I see him again." My mom said with a grin. I rolled my eyes.
"I'm going to bed mom. I've had a long day."
"Okay Love. Well, then I'll see you tomorrow."
"Goodnight mom, dad."
"Night Love." They both replied. I went upstairs and took a shower. I was kind of hoping that if the water was strong enough, maybe it'd wash away the events of the day from my memory. But unfortunately, that didn't work, so I went strait to bed.
Thursday morning, I woke up to Zorena licking my hand. I opened my eyes and looked at her. Her tail was wagging, and she had a hopeful look in her eyes.
"What. You want breakfast?" She let out a loud bark. "Kay." I threw back the covers and rolled out of bed. Zorena raced down the stairs and met me at her bowl. I got her food, then went upstairs to get dressed while she ate. I put on my leggings and sweatshirt I got from our shohpping trip in Oklahoma City. It was still kind of cool, so early in the morning. I looked at the clock. Eight thirty. That mus be a record early wake up in a while. I put my tennis shoes on, and went back downstairs. I went over to get Zorena's leash, and when she saw me, she raced for the door. I clipped her leash on her collar and went through the backyard. When I came out front and saw Diana sitting in a lawn chair with Zoe, watching Mackie play with some trucks on the driveway.
"Hi Love!" Mackie shouted. "Your dog?"
"Uh-hu. Wanna pet her?"
"Yeah!" He ran over and began to pet her. "What's her name?"
"Zorena."
"Hi Zorena!" She licked his face, and Mackie dissolved into a fit of laughter. They played a bit, then Zorena decided that was enough and wanted to get back to the job she came out here to do, so she walked away from Mackie and started sniffing the nearest tree.
"Well, I think somebody needs to go on a walk. We'll be back in a while, then you can play with her some more, okay Mackie?"
"Okay." He was a little disappointed, but he suddenly remembered his trucks and went back to play.
"Bye Diana."
"Have fun Love." We began our walk and ended up at an elementary school playground. We climbed on the old wood equipment for a while, then sat on a bench to rest.
"Well Zorena, we'd better go before recess is called." We got up and headed for home.
Mackie was still plying outside when we got back, but he didn't jump up to pet Zorena. "Anytime anybody wants to pet her, come on over." I told Diana.
"Thanks Love." I smiled and went inside. I tood off my shoes, then sat down on the couch in the den and turned on the t.v. for a while.
The doorbell rang, and I fell of the couch. I stood up so fast I got a headache. I must have fallen asleep. I answered the door.
"Hi Mackie! Hey Zac!"
"Hi Love." They both replied.
"We want to play with Zorena." Mackie said with a big grin on his face.
"Okay, she's in the den around the corner on the couch." They started off to the den, but Zac stopped and turned around.
"Aren't you coming?"
"I'll be in in a minute."
"Kay." He reluctantly turned back and walked with Mackie to Zorena. I went into the kitchen to find some form of caffeine. The only source was a can of pop. All my cookies were gone! Oh well. I left the kitchen to join Zac, Mackie and Zorena. When I came in, Mackie was on the couch with Zorena's head in his lap. Zac was on his knees on the floor scratching Zorena's belly, and Zorena was just laying there, soaking up the pets. After about fifteen minutes of petting and playing fetch, the phone rang, so I answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hi. It's Isaac."
"Hi Isaac! What's up?"
"Not much. How 'bout you?"
"Nothing. Your brothers are here playing with Zorena."
"Yeah. Can you send them home? They have to clean their rooms." Zac came out of the den.
"They need to clean their rooms, huh?" I looked at Zac and raised my eyebrows. He screamed, then ran back to the den. "Did you hear that Isaac?"
"Yeah, and the rest of the state." I went into the den and saw Zac clinging to the couch like it would save his life.
"He doesn't want to Isaac." Zac's eyes were wide and he was shaking his head furiously. "He's not gonna move."
"I'll come get him. See you in a minute." We hung up and I went over to Zac.
"Isaac is coming to carry you away." The doorbell rang. "There he is." Zac tightened his hold on the couch. Mackie, Zorena and I opened the door to Isaac. "In the den." All four of us got to the den, but Zac was gone. "Zac!" I called.
"I wanna stay with Love!" He shouted back. "Isaac, keep him talking. I'll find him."
"Kay. Come on Zac. We have to clean our room!"
"No! You clean the room!" I looked around, then left the den.
"It's not my lego castle sitting in the middle of the room."
"It's Tay's!" I walked towards the kitchen.
"It's not our remote controlled monster trucks laying on the floor."
"They're Mackies!" I looked around the kitchen.
"Mackie's not in our room!"
"Come on Zac. I found you." I pulled him up from the floor. "I found him Isaac! We're in the kitchen." Zac used every muscle in him to stay on the floor. He gave a yank of my hand, so I fell down next to him.
"Please don't make me go Love." He pleaded.
"It's up to you guys." Finally Isaac found us. He knelt down in front of Zac.
"I have a compromise." Isaac announced. "Love, what are you doing for the next hour or so?"
"Nothing."
"Okay. How 'bout this. Zac, since you're so attached to Love and Zorena, they can come with us back to our house. Sit and talk while all of us clean our room. I'm sure Tay won't mind." He smiled.
"Sounds good to me. Is that okay Love?"
"Sure, I guess so."
"Well, then, lets go." We gathered Mackie and Zorena and headed over to the Hanson house.
