Chapter Two
He led her down a hall, opened a door, climbed a flight of stairs. He paused, then opened another door, and led her out onto the stage.
"So this is what it's like."
"Except thousands of people are screaming for you."
"It's a rush huh?"
"Totally. Come on out." They walked out to center stage. The stage was clear of cords and instruments.
"So you stand here." She ran over to his spot, prending to sing and play the keyboards, then looked around. "You have a good view of the crowd."
"Yeah." He smiled at her. She ran to Zac's spot, played the drums and sang. Then she ran to Isaac's place, played the guitar. "He's got a good view too. Where are they anyway?"
"Loungin' 'round the dressing room."
"Aren't they worried about you? Wondering where you are?"
"No. I told them I was going out to practice driving."
"When did you decide to start driving golf carts?" They came together and sat down at the front of center stage.
"Yesterday. Zac and I were exploring the theater and we came across a whole bunch of 'em. I guess the security guards use them to patroll the grounds or something. They said I could drive them while we were here."
"Cool." They sat there quietly for a couple of minutes.
"Hey guys!" Taylor and Marilynn turned to look at who was coming on stage.
"Hi Zac." They said together. "This is Marilynn." Taylor introduced.
"Hi Marilynn."
"Hi." He leaned over his brother.
"Where'd you find 'er?"
"Parking lot." Marilynn looked away, pretending not to listen.
"She's purdy." Zac said in a western accent.
"Yeah." Taylor agreed. They both looked at her. She turned back to them.
"Thanks." She smiled, then looked out over the empty seats. She heard them whispering. Then it was silent. Zac placed a hand on the opposite side of her face and turned it toward him. They looked into eachother's eyes.
"Can I- kiss you? Marilynn?" He asked softly.
"I guess." He placed his lips on hers. After three minutes, he pushed her back so she was laying on the stage.
