Chapter Three

Zac quickly went back up the stairs, into the bathroom and flushed the toilet. He looked at his reflection in the mirror. He was pale. Too pale for going to the bathroom. He turned on the faucett and splashed his face with cold water. He dried his face on a near-by towel. 'Who was that? Was I just seeing things?' His mind raced. He had to sit down. He sat on the toilet and leaned back. 'It deffinitely was a person- but who? Nobody here had any kids, that he knew of anyway. Could it be Lisa's? Was it a girl or boy? It sounded like a girl. I haveta tell the others. At least Tay or Ike. She had wanted help.' He looked in the mirror and waited for his color to return. When it did, he calmly left the bathroom to join the rest of his family. He found them outside in the back yard. 'Perfect.' he thought. he walked over to the nearest older sibling. "Tay. Come get a drink with me."
"But I don't need a drink. I just-"
"But I need one. Come on." he tugged the back of Tay's shirt.
"Fine. You are such a baby Zac." Zac led Tay into the house and out of the view of the others.
"Tay. You don't understand. Remember Lisa telling us to not go into that one room in the basement?"
"You went in there?! She specifically told us to stay out of there-"
"But it's not a mess Tay. It's a living, breathing person."
"What?!"
"Tay. Someone is locked down in that room Lisa told us not to go into. I'm pretty sure it's a girl. She sounded kinda young-"
"Oh my god- she's in the basement?"
"No Tay- she's in the living room. Come on. I'll show you." They took off for the basement, Zac leading the way with Tay on his heels.

I heard thunder coming down the stairs, then voices outside. Maybe the person had gone for help.

********************

"They're in here. Be careful Tay." Zac opened the door slowly. "There."

I saw two people standing in the doorway. "Help me." I cried. I knew I sounded pathetic, but I was and I didn't care. The taller one rushed to my side.
"Is there a light in here?" The smaller one asked.
"No." I answered.
"Can you stand up?" The one next to me asked. He layed one hand on my shoulder and one on my back.
"I'm not sure."
"Try to stand and I'll help. Zac, get over here and help." The smaller one, now known as Zac, came over. I got my feet under me. Each one held an arm and lifted me up. When I was standing, they started to step away, but I started falling, and they were at my sides, supporting me.
"Lets get her to the van before they catch us. I'll just carry her." The other one said.
